John Travolta, 71, will costar with mini-me daughter Ella Bleu, 25, in a movie about ‘rogue orcas’

John Travolta will collaborate on a new movie with his daughter Ella Bleu Travolta.

The veteran actor, 71, who surprised many over the summer, will star alongside 25-year-old actress and Melissa Barrera in the upcoming action thriller, Black Tides. The announcement was made on Monday.

The film, directed by Renny Harlin and written by Chris Sparling and Ángel Agudo, features killer whales behaving unpredictably – often described as ‘rogue orcas’.

The movie tells the story of Bill Pierce, a father who’s been distant from his family, as he attempts to rebuild his relationship with his daughter Rebecca and grandson Sebastian. Their sailing trip off the coast of Spain takes a dangerous turn when their boat is unexpectedly attacked by orcas.

It subsequently ignites a ‘fight for survival across open waters,’ per Deadline.

The father-daughter duo previously worked together on 2019′s The Poison Rose and 2009′s Old Dogs.

John Travolta, known for his role in Grease, is also a father to 14-year-old Benjamin, who will be 15 next month, in addition to his daughter Ella.

He and his wife, Kelly Preston, shared their children, including their son Jett, who tragically passed away from a seizure at age 16 in 2009.

The three individuals are the only remaining family members, having previously lost Kelly to breast cancer in July 2020.

John has kept his late wife’s memory alive, and often posts photos of her in memoriam.

The actor recently posted a song on Instagram to celebrate what would have been his mother’s 63rd birthday.

John posted a photo of his wife and a sweet message celebrating her birthday. He explained he wrote a song for her, and shared it with everyone as a birthday gift. The message ended with birthday wishes from John, Ella, and Ben.

Ella left a comment of three red heart emojis.

This Mother’s Day, the Hollywood actor posted a throwback family photo and wrote a sweet message: ‘Happy Mother’s Day, Kelly! You’re amazing! We all love you!’

Ella and John are very close friends and frequently show their support for each other online.

In a 2019 interview with People, John lovingly described his daughter as gracious, generous, poised, graceful, and beautiful. He expressed that he felt amazed by who she had become and humbly stated he didn’t deserve any credit for her wonderful qualities, only the joy of loving her.

He added, ‘And maybe that’s a valid contribution.’

That year, Ella also publicly praised her father, a famous actor, saying he was the best teacher and guide she could have asked for.

She shared with People magazine that she loves working with her father and they always enjoy themselves when they collaborate on projects.

The young performer shared that she’s always enjoyed being on stage, whether through acting, dancing, or singing – a passion she clearly inherited from her parents, who also work in entertainment.
