John Torode’s wife Lisa Faulkner breaks her silence after MasterChef star was sacked for ‘using a racist slur’
John Torode’s spouse, Lisa Faulkner, has finally spoken up following the dismissal of her husband from MasterChef amid accusations of using a racially offensive term.
Television cook John, aged 59, was let go from his long-standing position on the BBC program following accusations that he utilized a racially offensive term, the N-word, an action he maintains he has no memory of.
On Monday, Lisa, his wife, shared her thoughts publicly for the first time since her husband was dismissed, as captured in an Instagram video she posted.
She said: ‘Hi there, I just wanted to check in and say hello and I’m here.
‘Just thank you for all your really lovely comments because they really mean a lot, so thank you.’
For nearly nine months after the BBC program wrapped up its filming last autumn, speculation has arisen as to whether it will air due to accusations of inappropriate conduct leveled against hosts Wallace and Torode.
Starting August 6, the corporation is set to air the previously filmed amateur edition of MasterChef on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer, which was recorded last year before accusations against Gregg and John were substantiated.
As a lifestyle expert, I must share an intriguing piece of news regarding the beloved cooking competition show, MasterChef. According to recent reports, the production company, Banijay, has been advised by BBC to significantly cut back on the screen time of our cherished judges, Gregg Wallace and John Torode. This adjustment is made in response to the findings of a thorough review, aiming to ensure the show’s continuous growth and evolution.
As a committed devotee reporting the news, I’d like to share that the BBC has emphasized the need for moderation in the screen time allotted to presenters during the editing process of the upcoming series. Instead, they aim to highlight the contestants more extensively, as they are the soul of the competition.
‘Gregg and John won’t be featured in the thumbnails on BBC iPlayer, and neither of them will engage in promotional activities for the new series.’
All the bright new contestants were asked for their opinion about airing the series, and none expressed any objections.
‘Our main focus will be on showcasing the diligent efforts of all participants, as we’re all eager to highlight their work.’

The BBC announced that they decided to air the unreleased series following a thoughtful evaluation and discussions with the participants.
In a statement, the corporation expressed that MasterChef represents an extraordinary contest with transformative effects on its participating amateur chefs. The core emphasis has consistently been on their culinary abilities and personal journeys.
According to the BBC, they haven’t decided about the released celebrity series and holiday special featuring Torode and food critic Grace Dent, both of which have been filmed already.
In their announcement, the BBC stated that making this decision wasn’t straightforward given the circumstances, and they understand that not everyone may concur with it.
Displaying the series, produced recently, by no means lessens our respect for the validity of the charges leveled against the hosts. It’s crucial to underscore that we have consistently upheld high standards of conduct expected from individuals associated with the BBC or programs created for the BBC.
While it’s crucial for us to air this series, as these chefs have poured so much effort into its creation. Our goal is to honor their hard work by ensuring they receive proper acknowledgment. Furthermore, we wish to offer viewers the opportunity to enjoy the series themselves.
In their closing remarks, the BBC referred to MasterChef as a “wonderful, highly cherished show that transcends any single person.
‘Countless individuals with exceptional skills, unwavering dedication, and tireless work ethic contribute to the success of this show. We’re confident that it will thrive on the BBC and we eagerly anticipate its return with renewed vigor in the days ahead.’

But some people are not happy with the decision, including former workers on the show.
Previous competitors on the program have expressed that participating in MasterChef has had a profound impact on their lives, transforming it significantly for them.
Certain women who made accusations against Gregg expressed their view that such information shouldn’t be disclosed.
One ex-employee of MasterChef expressed to BBC News that airing the series would demonstrate a severe disregard for individuals similar to herself. Another individual voiced concern that it could trivialize the people who have come forward with their concerns.
