John Stamos Seriously Went Off About Lori Loughlin’s Ex Mossimo Guinolli: ‘She Put Up With A Lot’

Just recently, actress Lori Loughlin, known for her role on Full House, announced she’s splitting from her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, after 28 years of marriage. This breakup follows five years after both served prison time for their involvement in a college admissions scheme that fraudulently got their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, into the University of Southern California. Actor John Stamos has reportedly expressed strong disapproval of Giannulli and publicly defended Loughlin.

John Stamos, best known for his role as Jesse Katsopolis on the show Full House, saw his character marry Rebecca Donaldson, played by Lori Loughlin. While their characters had a romance on screen, the actors themselves remained just friends. Years later, when Stamos discussed Loughlin’s divorce on the Good Guys podcast, he was very open about believing she was better off without her ex-husband. Stamos then shared his thoughts, saying:

I explained to her that all the difficult experiences she’d had were related to this person.

John Stamos was deeply upset by the consequences Lori Loughlin faced during her legal troubles. She was removed from the show Fuller House and lost her role on Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart. Stamos has consistently supported her, maintaining she wasn’t aware of the details of the college admissions scandal.

He reiterated those feelings on the podcast, strongly criticizing Mossimo Giannulli – saying, “She ended up in prison because of this guy.” – and adding that she didn’t deserve the ordeal she went through. When his co-host, Ben Soffer, brought up rumors of cheating, John Stamos wouldn’t confirm or deny them, but simply said:

I’m not going to discuss that. Whatever happened between them deeply hurt her, especially considering everything she’d already endured in that relationship. I won’t go into the details of their connection – it’s personal. I know quite a bit and supported her through many difficult times. She was a wonderful person who always tried to make things right and fix problems.

I was really heartened to hear about what Lori Loughlin did after getting out of prison. Apparently, she used the $500,000 she and her husband were accused of wrongly donating to actually help two other students attend USC. She fully funded their tuition and expenses for four years, which seems like a genuine effort to make things right, and it really validates what John Stamos has said about her.

Despite the close on-screen relationship between Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky, John Stamos and Mossimo Giannulli aren’t close in real life, as Stamos explained…

He’s achieved a lot, but I’m cutting him out of my life. He’s incredibly self-absorbed, and I don’t believe people like that can change unless they’re willing to work on themselves. I know some things about his background and family, and it makes me wonder how you could disrupt a long-standing marriage and family dynamic like that.

John Stamos believes Mossimo Giannulli made a serious mistake in how he handled the situation with Lori Loughlin, and he suggests Giannulli may later wish he’d done things differently. Stamos ended by saying:

To be honest, I genuinely pray for this person. I hope they find what they’re looking for and resolve whatever issues they’re struggling with. I truly believe they had a wonderful life and I wish they would seek help. He clearly needs support.

It’s clear John Stamos is very supportive of his friend, and while we don’t know how Lori Loughlin feels about him being so open, it’s good to have friends who will fiercely defend you.

You can watch John Stamos and Lori Loughlin together in all eight seasons of Full House, which are now streaming on Hulu.
