John Simm’s “ridiculous” but perfectly-rated BBC show is leaving Netflix really soon
The beloved BBC drama titled “Life on Mars,” featuring John Simm and Philip Glenister in leading roles, will no longer be available on Netflix in the near future.
In 2006 and 2007, a captivating sci-fi series titled “Time-Travel Cop Drama” was broadcasted. The story revolves around the character of Sam Tyler (Simm), a police officer from Manchester, who finds himself mysteriously transported to the year 1973 following a car accident, and his subsequent investigations.
In his identical work setting, Sam embarks on a quest to decipher the enigma of his time-jumping exploits. Simultaneously, he collaborates with his unorthodox superior, the tough and morally questionable Gene Hunt (Glenister), in solving crimes.

After spending some time on Netflix, fans – or those seeing it for the first time – won’t have much longer before the series is taken off the streaming platform. The departure date of April 19 provides plenty of opportunity to watch all 16 episodes in one go.
Should you require more persuasion, consider the exceptional approval this show has received on Rotten Tomatoes. Each season has achieved a flawless 100% rating from a total of 29 reviews. The audience ratings are also impressive, with seasons scoring 96% and 100%.
In their assessment of the second season, The Australian commended the over-the-top and clever execution of an absurd concept, while The Guardian appreciated the allure of the show for its blend of traditional and contemporary elements.
The New York Times found one of the appealing aspects of Life on Mars to be its resistance to being overly sentimental about the ’70s, while Slate praised the series for its ability to deliver charm, laughter, and intriguing plot turns without causing any discomfort during its 16 episodes.
The television show titled “Life on Mars,” remade in various countries, was succeeded by the spin-off series “Ashes to Ashes.” In this continuation, the character Alex Drake (played by Keeley Hawes) embarked on a journey similar to Sam’s, but instead of returning to the year 2006 like him, she found herself transported to the year 1981.
Excitedly, I’ve just learned that the gripping Brighton-set crime drama, “Grace,” starring John Simm, has been given the green light for a sixth season! And
Life on Mars leaves Netflix on April 19.
