As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I find this news about John Mayer and filmmaker McG buying The Jim Henson Company lot absolutely fascinating. Having worked in this dynamic field myself, I can only imagine the creativity and potential that such a historic property holds for these two talented individuals.

John Mayer, together with filmmaker McG, has partnered with The Jim Henson Company to acquire a notable historical lot in Los Angeles, which is known for producing the beloved characters from Sesame Street and the Muppets.

Previously owned by Charlie Chaplin, the property was later managed by A&M Records, until in 1999, it was purchased by The Henson Company, allegedly for a price of $12.5 million.

Currently, Mayer and McG, who directed the 2000 version of Charlie’s Angels featuring actresses like Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz, have jointly acquired a property.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the jaw-dropping sum reportedly spent by none other than McG and Mayer. It’s said that they collectively splurged an astounding $60 million to get their hands on The Jim Henson Company Lot!

47-year-old Mayer, who previously owned offices at the location, has now signed a deal with McG to acquire the studio. This was confirmed by the singer’s representative to The Hollywood Reporter.

Joseph McGinty Nichol, commonly known as McG, is the director behind movies like Terminator Salvation, We Are Marshall, and This Means War.

After the end of a reported hold, which was previously owned by a Scientologist father-son team, he and Mayer successfully acquired the Henson estate.

The pair in question are the alleged major Scientology donor Steven Fabos and his son Shaun, who jointly run the music production company Fab Factory Studios.

2022 saw Shaun Fabos taking the stand during Danny Masterson’s rape trial, a fellow Scientologist who was subsequently found guilty and given a sentence of 30 years to life in prison for committing the crime.

According to Variety’s report, although Shaun Fabos testified on behalf of the prosecution, his statements seemed advantageous to the defense. The judge thus permitted the prosecutors to regard Fabos as an adversarial or unreliable witness.

According to sources close to the situation, it was said that the Faboses held control over the Henson estate; however, the agreed-upon time elapsed without a contract being finalized, leading to Mayer and McG purchasing the property instead.

Back in 1917, right at the zenith of my global stardom as a mute film legend, I (Charlie Chaplin) constructed my very own studio – an unparalleled sanctuary for my craft and creative pursuits.

In his memoirs, Chaplin described the location as being at the intersection of Sunset and La Brea, featuring a beautiful ten-room house and five acres filled with lemon, orange, and peach trees. He also noted that they constructed an ideal facility, equipped with a growing area, editing room, and administrative offices.

Several well-known films by him, such as The Kid, The Gold Rush, City Lights, and The Great Dictator, were filmed on location.

In 1953, Chaplin decided to sell everything off as he had left America due to the negative public opinion and legal complications that arose from his alleged communist sentiments during the Red Scare.

Following its time serving as a location for television shows such as Perry Mason, the premises transformed into the headquarters of A&M Records in 1966.

In 1999, which was nine years following the unexpected death of Jim Henson due to a bacterial infection at only 53 years old, The Jim Henson Company acquired the property.
