John Legend commented on Donald Trump’s unsuccessful attempt to receive a Nobel Peace Prize, even though Trump brokered a peace agreement between Israel and Gaza.
The 79-year-old president, who was seeking a second term, lost this year’s election to Maria Corina Machado, a leader of the Venezuelan opposition.
The 46-year-old singer offered some advice to Donald Trump on Sunday, should he decide to run for office again in 2026: ‘Stop fighting against Americans and stop using the military in cities just because they’re led by Democrats.’
Legend said he needs to put an end to all the oppressive and cruel actions he’s been attempting.
The musician from Save Room shared that the award held special meaning for him, recalling his performance at the 2017 Nobel Prize ceremony.
John Stephens, known as Legend, used Instagram on Saturday to publicly address the politician with a simple message.
He shared a video with his 16 million followers and wrote, ‘Trump for Peace Prize 2026!’
The Voice coach has frequently criticized Trump, previously calling him racist.
On Sunday, he was less confrontational with the former reality TV host, choosing a more subtle, though still sarcastic, way to express their disagreements.
Legend quickly listed past Nobel Peace Prize recipients, pointing out that the prize is frequently awarded to those who champion human rights or have successfully brokered significant peace deals.
He also stated that the president’s recent efforts to negotiate a ceasefire between Palestine and Israel were a positive step forward.
In a video statement, he expressed a shared desire for peace in both Gaza and the West Bank, and credited President Trump with playing a key role in achieving this new agreement.
He urged everyone to hope this agreement brings genuine and lasting peace, noting that the people of Gaza have suffered immense destruction and hardship for the last two years.
The musician suggested that if this peace holds, Donald Trump could finally receive the Nobel Peace Prize he’s been hoping for.
Even though he also hopes Trump receives the award, he explained what Trump needs to do differently to earn it.

He began by saying that even if Trump were to win the Nobel Peace Prize, it likely wouldn’t be solely due to progress in the Middle East, before launching into a list of his criticisms of the Trump administration.

It’s unbelievable, truly unbelievable!
He also criticized the recent, large-scale ICE raids, stating, ‘Stop sending ICE agents, who are often masked and operate without clear accountability, to harass immigrant communities. And stop pursuing legal cases against his political rivals based on weak evidence.’
As a dedicated follower, I always heard the whispers that for Trump to truly achieve greatness, he’d need to show a different side – specifically, ending any involvement in harmful actions like attacking boats or ordering punishments without fair trials. It was like these things had to stop for him to really ‘win’ in the eyes of many.
He needs to immediately stop his controlling and oppressive behavior, as well as all the cruel and inhumane things he’s been attempting.
At the close of the video, Legend sarcastically asked if everyone truly wanted Donald Trump to receive a Nobel Peace Prize.
After unexpectedly winning the Nobel Peace Prize, Maria explained yesterday why she decided to dedicate it to Donald Trump.

Immediately following her victory, Machado shared on X that people worldwide are counting on the president to bring about freedom and democracy.
Machado announced she was giving this award to the people of Venezuela who are struggling, and also thanked President Trump for his strong backing of their efforts.
She explained her commitment in more detail during a Saturday interview on Fox News with Rachel Campos-Duffy, and spoke highly of the president.
She stated that he helped resolve eight conflicts in just a few months, and his efforts have brought Venezuela to the point of potential freedom after 26 years of oppressive rule.
She spoke highly of Trump, calling him a strong and brave leader, and claimed he’s worked to break up criminal organizations in Venezuela.
