John Cena’s “perfect” cancelled Looney Tunes movie is finally getting a worldwide release
The long-awaited “Looney Tunes” movie starring John Cena, titled “Coyote vs. Acme,” is now set for a global premiere after being taken off the initial release schedule.
2023 saw Warner Bros making an unexpected decision: they postponed indefinitely their planned hybrid animation/live-action project. This move came as the studio shifted towards a fresh worldwide distribution approach, even though the movie had already been screened for test audiences following its production completion in 2022.
It’s been announced that Ketchup Entertainment has bought global rights for the movie and plans to show it in theaters; they haven’t revealed the exact date for its release as of now, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, expressed his excitement about reaching an agreement with Warner Bros. Pictures to share this movie globally.
Coyote vs. Acme seamlessly combines nostalgia with contemporary storytelling, preserving the charm of iconic Looney Tunes characters while making them appealing to a fresh audience. We’re confident it will strike a chord with both long-time enthusiasts and new admirers.
According to the humorous 1990 article from The New Yorker, the cartoon series “Coyote vs. Acme” tells a story where Wile E Coyote engages a billboard lawyer (played by Will Forte) in a lawsuit against Acme Corporation. This is due to their products consistently failing him during his ongoing attempts to capture his arch-nemesis, the Road Runner.
In a turn of events, Coyote finds himself squaring off with his lawyer’s formidable ex-boss, portrayed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (formerly known as Cena), as their mutual resolve to emerge victorious intensifies. The cast of To All the Boys I Loved Before includes Lana Condor and Tone Bell as well.
The film is helmed by director Dave Green, with screenplay by Samy Burch under the pen name May December. Christopher DeFaria and the co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, serve as producers.
After the movie was first postponed, Forte posted an open letter to the team on social media following his chance to view it.
He penned, “When I initially learned our film was going to be removed, I hadn’t watched it yet. At that point, I assumed, like everyone else probably did, that it was just average. However, upon watching it, I was astounded. It’s truly exceptional.
“Hilarious from start to finish, visually captivating, heartwarming, genuine, and deeply moving in an authentic way. After the credits finished, I found myself reflecting on how fortunate I felt to be involved in such a unique production. However, this soon turned into bewilderment and disappointment. It seems they won’t distribute the movie we made?
Coyote vs. Acme doesn’t have a release date yet.
