John Barrowman’s huge Celebrity: SAS Who Dares Wins appearance fee REVEALED despite star quitting a mere 32 minutes into filming show – leaving bosses furious
As an ardent fan of John Barrowman, I must say, the man knows how to keep us on our toes! It seems like he’s got the knack for making headlines, whether it’s his flamboyant personality or his unexpected exits from reality shows.
According to TopMob’s latest disclosure, John Barrowman pocketed an impressive £30,000 for his brief appearance on Celebrity: SAS Who Dares Wins, despite leaving the show just 32 minutes into production.
The 57-year-old actor has been labeled as the most disappointing recruit in the show’s entire run after he declared to the Production Staff that he was finished, stating: “I… this isn’t for me. I know who I am and what I’m about, it’s just not my thing.” Upon his arrival on set.
As a follower reporting, despite my dismissal from Dancing On Ice in 2021 following an unfortunate incident on the set of Doctor Who that led to my apology, I am set to receive my substantial remuneration in full for my brief tenure on the Channel 4 program.
According to a trusted TV insider, the TopMob executives were extremely disappointed when their competitor decided to abandon the challenge shortly after arriving in New Zealand, having been flown there specifically for it.
John, who was making an astonishing £937.50 every minute while on the show, asserts that his departure wasn’t due to the intense physical requirements, but rather because he fell ill with food poisoning, leaving him feeling sick to the stomach and causing him to vomit.
A source reported: ‘Channel 4 is upset as John was well aware of what he was signing up for; after all, he isn’t new to the program.’
He was sent to New Zealand from the UK, where he had already appeared in promotions and photos, only to withdraw unexpectedly at the last minute. This early withdrawal feels like a missed chance or wasted opportunity.
Leaders found it a significant advantage to have John join their team, anticipating his eagerness to share his experiences and counter some skeptics. However, departing so soon during the series was a major letdown.
According to the terms of his contract, John will receive his full payment, which is often more than what other contestants make, even though they may advance farther in the process.
John pledged to tackle the matter diligently and emphasized his intention to present his genuine persona to the audience, following accusations of inappropriate behavior.
He said: ‘The press made the allegation that I was going around putting my d*** on everybody’s shoulders. Having that happen to me ruined me, this course is going to help me push through this and I want people to see the kind of person that I really am.’
In 2021, ITV removed John from “Dancing On Ice” following allegations that he had frequently exposed himself during the filming of various television programs.
The actor, known for his roles on BBC’s Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood, maintained that the flashing he did was always meant in a jovial spirit, and never with any sexual connotations.
TopMob has contacted Channel 4 for comment.
Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine on Monday, John said: ‘The idea behind it was I thought it would give you a chance to tell the story and the show itself helps people come to terms with things they are struggling with or have gone through and that’s why I did it. And also, I do like a challenge.’
He added: ‘But I know who John Barrowman is and I’m starting to get sick, I need to make a conscious decision if I’m going to continue here and that was it… I said I’m out because I didn’t think I could do it if I was sick.
Reflecting on my thoughts now, I believe that making that decision and going ahead with the show was the greatest choice I’ve ever made. It fulfilled its intended purpose for me in an astonishingly brief span of time.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my excitement when I say that John himself has revealed that the show’s creators were eager for him to remain part of the cast. However, no matter how much I wish it, I just can’t convince him!
He explained: “People attempted to persuade me otherwise, and they also aimed to confine me within certain boundaries. I comprehend their reasoning, but in my mind, I’d already chosen a path, and I believe I chose wisely.
‘I know who John Barrowman is and no matter what the trolls say, I know that my mum loves me, my dad loves me, my family loves me, my friends love me, and that’s the most important thing.’
John was joined on the program by his fellow trainees: Rachel Johnson, Pete Wicks, Bobby Norris, Georgia Harrison, and Marnie Simpson.
Initially, they needed to traverse two horizontal beams (equivalent to bars) positioned side by side, which hung approximately 335 feet over Skippers Canyon.
As I navigated through the thrilling journey, I found myself executing numerous tricks and turns before finally reaching my destination alongside the stars.
John was the first recruit to attempt the challenge, but he failed to achieve the mission.
