Joey Essex proves he is a Jack of all trades as he lands his biggest role yet acting opposite Hollywood movie star Geoff Bell

He’s become a well-known face on British reality TV, shown his skills as a boxer, and is now entering the world of film, working with a major Hollywood actor.

Joey Essex is expanding his talents and has just landed his first ever movie role – his biggest project yet!

He’ll star alongside Geoff Bell, known for his roles in popular films like The Business and MobLand.

The original star of The Only Way Is Essex, who is 35 years old, began filming a movie last week in Maidstone, Kent. The filming location was The Walpole Bay Hotel.

Joey was spotted by many onlookers watching him perform in a vintage naval uniform.

Oh my gosh, it’s amazing! He’s totally nailing this new thing he’s doing, and get this – Geoff is actually helping him! Like, mentoring him! I can’t even deal with how perfect that is. It’s like a dream come true to see him thriving with such a great guide.

According to a source speaking to The Sun, landing this role would be a major accomplishment for any actor, but especially for Joey, who has been working hard to move beyond his reality TV background for the past year.

After winning his first boxing match and silencing his critics, he’s now aiming for a similar success with his debut in a movie.

‘It’s a proper, gritty drama and Joey will play a lead role.’

Before landing the acting job, Joey told the Daily Mail he was feeling stuck, having already done 18 reality shows over the years.

Joey first became well-known on the reality show TOWIE in 2011. Since then, he’s participated in numerous other TV competitions like I’m A Celebrity, Dancing On Ice, Love Island, Celebrity MasterChef, and SAS: Who Dares Wins. Most recently, he started a new career as a boxer earlier this year.

This unfortunate timing comes after reports surfaced that he was under investigation following the collapse of his private company, which left £1.2 million in debt.

After many years on television, including appearing at the Pride of Britain Awards 2025 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, he recently told the Daily Mail he feels he’s done it all. He joked about feeling stuck and running out of new challenges, saying, ‘Help!’

Honestly, I was a bit taken aback when he kept saying everything was fine, and then playfully warned us to keep an eye on Joey Essex because he’s about to do something crazy! It felt like a real tease, and now I’m completely hooked to see what Joey does next.

Joey Essex’s company, Joey Essex Management Ltd, closed down in September because it was unable to pay its significant debts, primarily to tax authorities.

New documents filed with Companies House show that accountants will be investigating the company director, according to The Mirror.

The report states that, now that the company is in liquidation due to insolvency, the liquidators are responsible for investigating the company’s financial situation. This includes finding out what assets and debts it has, and looking for ways to recover money for the liquidation process.

We also need to evaluate the director’s behavior and report our findings confidentially to the Insolvency Service, as required by the Company Directors Disqualification Act.

Joey is the company’s only director and shareholder.

His business owes a total of £407,245, including £30,449 in VAT, £9,552 in income tax paid through PAYE, a substantial £402,302 in corporation tax, £15,000 to suppliers and for expenses, and a £39,942 loan received during the Covid pandemic.

The company owed creditors a total of £497,246. Additionally, Joey had borrowed £780,000 from the company, and it’s unclear if this money will ever be repaid.

This brought the total debt to £1,277,246.

The new report added that £350,000 of the cash has now been repaid
