Joely Richardson shared a touching Instagram post on Thursday remembering her sister, Natasha.
Natasha, a British actress, tragically died on March 18, 2009, after suffering a head injury while skiing. She was 45 years old and died from an epidural hematoma two days after the accident.
After her death, her husband, 73-year-old Liam Neeson, became a single parent to their two sons, Micheál and Daniel, who were only 13 and 12 years old at the time.
Actress Joely, age 60, recently posted some old photos on New Year’s. The pictures show her daughter Natasha and both families from the summer after Joely married Liam in 1994.
Joely shared that after her honeymoon, Natasha visited her in London, and she was thinking about how much she enjoyed spending time with family.
It’s funny how families can get on each other’s nerves during the holidays, even though there’s still a deep, fundamental love there.

‘These photos were taken the summer my sister Natasha got married.
It was so lovely when she came to visit us in London after her honeymoon! My daughter, Daisy, was one of her bridesmaids, and she was absolutely thrilled to quickly change back into her bridesmaid dress for the occasion.
My brother Carlo was at the wedding, which was a shame Mum couldn’t attend. We had a toast to her, and also to you and your family as we welcome the new year! Wishing you all the best for 2026. #90s
It was really moving to hear Liam talk about how his family supported each other last year, after the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Natasha. They really came together during such a difficult time, and it was clear how much they meant to each other.
The Taken star told People of the accident: ‘It was a horrible thing to happen.’
I’ve always admired the talent in Natasha’s family – her sister Joely and mother, the incredible Vanessa Redgrave, are both phenomenal actresses. It was heartwarming to hear how everyone supported each other, really pulling together as a team.
‘Vanessa and Joely were extraordinary. We were fortunate in lots of ways.’
In 2018, Micheál took his mother’s maiden name, Richardson, as a tribute to her. Two years later, in 2020, he appeared with his father in the comedy-drama film, Made In Italy.
Liam Neeson expressed his hope that his daughter, Natasha, would approve of his eldest son pursuing a career in acting, saying, ‘I think Natasha would be proud. I hope so.’

In 2009, the Tony Award-winning actress had a skiing accident, falling and hitting her head. Daniel was at home in New York and couldn’t be there, but his brother was with her at the time.
Liam was in Toronto filming.
Natasha, known for her roles in movies like The Parent Trap and Maid In Manhattan, was learning to ski when she was involved in an accident.
She didn’t have a helmet on and initially reported feeling okay, but her condition worsened about an hour later back at the hotel.
Liam hurried to be with her, and she was immediately flown to New York for critical care. Sadly, she passed away in the hospital two days later, surrounded by her family, including her mother, Vanessa, and sister, Joely.
I still can’t believe it. They said after everything, after the accident at Mont Tremblant, that it was a bleed on the brain. A fall while skiing… that’s what took her. It’s just… a bleed on the brain. I keep replaying it in my head, trying to understand how something so vibrant could be ended by a simple fall.
Liam and Natasha met in 1993 while performing in the Broadway production of Anna Christie, and they married a year later in 1994.
