It appears Joe Jonas has heard the backlash to his World Series performance loud and clear.
The 36-year-old pop star made a joke at his own expense on social media after his band’s performance during a cancer benefit event, which some viewers thought happened at an uncomfortable moment.
‘Why these guys?’ he commented on the MLB’s Instagram post about their appearance.
Many fans responded positively to his honest and self-aware comment, with over 5,000 people liking it on Instagram.
‘Just when I thought you couldn’t get any funnier,’ one netizen commented.
The Jonas Brothers received criticism after their performance at a cancer fundraising event during Game 2 of the World Series in Toronto on Saturday night.

Even though it was meant to be a good thing, the performance simply didn’t resonate with many baseball fans and went too far.
The Dodgers and Blue Jays were tied 1-1 after five innings when the broadcast paused for the StandUpToCancer campaign. This involved fans displaying signs honoring loved ones affected by cancer. Information about StandUpToCancer, a registered 501(c)(3) charity, was shown on screen, explaining how viewers could donate to support cancer research and awareness.
Just before the sixth inning started, the Fox broadcast switched to a performance by the older boy band, playing one of their songs.
Fans were displeased.
One fan expressed frustration on X, stating, ‘Interrupting the World Series for a Jonas Brothers performance… honestly, I believe most people affected by cancer would agree this isn’t what we need.’
Someone jokingly commented that the broadcast of the World Series was being interrupted so the Jonas Brothers could perform a song about how terrible cancer is.
Another fan tried to put the moment into perspective.
The Stand Up to Cancer moments are consistently powerful, especially when you see the thousands of signs representing everyone affected by the disease. It’s a meaningful three-minute break during the game.

‘Having the Jonas Bros lipsynch for 3 additional minutes was not.’
The Jonas brothers, like many families, have experienced the challenges of cancer. Their father, Kevin, received a diagnosis of stage II colon cancer in 2017, but thankfully went into remission later that same year.
During the poorly executed performance, one of the brothers held up a sign to celebrate their father, who was still alive.
One fan perfectly summed up the situation: holding a cancer vigil and attending a Jonas Brothers concert while a World Series game is tied is unbelievably wild.
