As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for unique stories and a deep appreciation for resilience, I find Joe Exotic’s audacious ambition to be both amusing and admirable. His life story, as portrayed in Tiger King and beyond, is a testament to the indomitable spirit of humanity – a man who has faced adversity, served time, and yet remains undeterred in his quest for freedom and public service.

Joe Exotic is hoping to leverage the recent satirical portrayal of him on Saturday Night Live to secure his release from prison and potentially secure a role in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.

61-year-old former zookeeper from Oklahoma, speaking to TMZ on Tuesday, expressed that he found no discomfort in Bowen Yang portraying him during the Weekend Update segment. He believes Yang delivered an impressive vocal impersonation.

In a recent statement, the TV personality from Garden City, Kansas expressed his opinion that the portrayal by Andrew Yang on the NBC variety show surpassed John Cameron Mitchell’s performance in the 2022 Peacock series “Joe vs Carole.

In an interview with the media outlet, the subject – who gained fame through the 2020 Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness – shared that a counselor in the prison where he is currently held informed him that people worldwide are discussing him, following his portrayal on the show.

In the program’s illustration, Yang’s Exotic requested a position within the upcoming government – specifically, the role of the Federal Fish and Wildlife director.

He shared with the media outlet that fellow prisoners at the detention center where he is being kept awoke him from his sleep to inform him about the Saturday Night Live sketch.

In January 2020, Joseph Maldonado-Passage, more famously known as Exotic, was given a 22-year prison sentence in Oklahoma for his role in a 2017 murder-for-hire scheme against Carole Baskin, his business rival.

Officials declared that Exotic allegedly tried to bribe an FBI agent for the purpose of assassinating Baskin in December 2017, and he was overheard stating something along the lines of, ‘Simply approach her in a mall parking lot and shoot her, then drive away.’

Additionally, Exotic faced conviction for multiple offenses related to wildlife law, including the deaths of five tigers, as well as breaches of the Endangered Species Act.

Exotic expressed to TMZ that he hoped the SNL sketch would draw Trump’s notice to his predicament, potentially leading to a presidential pardon and a sincere plea for an appointment within the cabinet.

In simple terms, Exotic conveyed that he thinks Matt Gaetz, Trump’s nominee for Attorney General, could bring about significant changes.

Gaetz stated at a Florida gathering in April 2022 that, if he were to be elected as president, he would grant a pardon to Exotic.

In the YouTube video, Gaetz stated that his level of commitment is as far as it goes, and mentioned that he had previously received letters from Exotic.

According to KOCO, Exotic wrote a new letter to Gaetz, who recently stepped down from his role as a representative in Florida following Trump’s nomination for a prominent position last week.

Exotic in the letter congratulated Gaetz on the appointment; and told him he is innocent of the charges he was convicted on.

In the letter, Exotic stated that he would be able to suggest a correction for this issue or at least propose it to President Trump for him to address in January 2025. However, it is important to note that only President Trump could carry out the actual pardon.

In addition, he expressed interest in obtaining a leadership role within the Fish and Wildlife Service following his clemency, and hinted that he would provide Congressional testimony detailing the truth behind the operations of the U.S. prison system, many years after being incarcerated.

In the fall of 2020, I humbly presented a detailed 257-page petition to the United States Department of Justice, appealing for a presidential pardon from then-President Trump during his initial term.

According to his legal team, Joseph’s current incarceration by the Bureau of Prisons is set to last until 2037, but due to his deteriorating health, it’s expected that he may unfortunately pass away while still in prison.

The individual sought understanding and forgiveness so that he could rectify past injustices and once again contribute positively to his community.
