The series first aired in 2017 and has since produced two seasons that can now be watched online.

In the first season, Jodie Whittaker plays the main character Cath Hardacre, a nurse who finds herself unemployed and resorts to assuming the identity of her best friend Dr. Ally Sutton, who is living in New Zealand. With Ally absent, Cath takes on a dangerous and intricate impersonation upon relocating to Edinburgh with her daughter.

The actors Emun Elliott (from The Gold), Sharon Small (known for Nightsleeper), and Blake Harrison, famous for his role in The Inbetweeners, complete the ensemble of this production.

In the second season, Alfred Enoch, best recognized for his work in the Harry Potter films and How to Get Away with Murder, becomes the central character. Unlike the first season, this four-part story focuses on Corporal James ‘Jamie’ McCain (Enoch), who develops feelings of suspicion while recuperating from a spinal injury in the hospital.

At the moment, Season 1 of “Trust Me” boasts an impressive 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, largely due to the acclaim for Jodie Whittaker’s stellar acting performance by critics.

According to Metro’s review, Jodie Whittaker skillfully portrays a relatable, earthy character whose life becomes increasingly chaotic.

In agreement, The Irish Times stated: “Whittaker’s convincing portrayal allows the show Trust Me to stretch beyond its implausibilities. However, for how much longer can it maintain this balance?

While pondering, The Daily Telegraph noted that although “Trust Me” had many exciting moments, the tension didn’t quite reach the expected boiling point of a pressure cooker.

Following the broadcast of the medical drama, viewers took to IMDB to express their opinions, with one labeling it as “exceptional,” and another praising it for its “thrilling suspense, unexpected plot twists, and the stellar acting of the main character.

When asked about what drew her to the role of Cath, Whittaker shared with the BBC: “The script for the initial episode caught my interest because it took an unexpected turn compared to what I had anticipated. It was intriguing, especially at the start when she’s suspended for whistleblowing and subsequently loses her job.

She went on to say, “Things could have unfolded in numerous ways, but her adopting a fresh identity wasn’t the direction I had anticipated.

I appreciate how complex and gray her moral decisions can be, not straightforward like black and white. Her choices often push the boundaries, making them hard to defend, yet we understand her motivations. Also, I haven’t ventured into any medical roles before, so this was an entirely fresh experience for me.

Seasons one and two of Trust Me are now available to stream on Channel 4.

The latest print edition from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25,” is now available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
