Jodie Whittaker’s Netflix Christmas movie confirms release date

As a long-time fan of heartwarming comedies and a lover of Christmas, I am absolutely thrilled about Netflix’s upcoming release, “That Christmas”! Having grown up watching Richard Curtis’ magical holiday movies, I can hardly contain my excitement for this animated adventure.

Santa Claus is coming to Netflix this December with Richard Curtis’ new movie That Christmas.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that an enchanting animated family adventure starring the brilliant Jodie Whittaker from “Doctor Who” and the mesmerizing Brian Cox from “Succession” is set to debut on December 6! Perfect timing for holiday entertainment.

Netflix revealed that the upcoming film features an original tune from Ed Sheeran, aptly named “Song Under the Tree”.

Under the direction of animation expert Simon Otto, known for the How to Train Your Dragon series, Locksmith Animation presents the film That Christmas. This movie is adapted from a series of children’s books written and directed by Richard Curtis, who is also famous for Love, Actually and Genie.

In this game, I find myself immersed in a heartwarming narrative that weaves together multiple stories revolving around themes of family bonds, friendships, love, and the occasional blunder by old Saint Nick.

As a long-time fan of heartwarming comedies that bring a touch of holiday cheer to my screen during the festive season, I find myself drawn to the description of a “heartwarming comedy” set in a picturesque seaside town where things take an unexpected turn just before Christmas. Having grown up by the sea and having spent many Christmases surrounded by family and friends, this setting resonates deeply with me and immediately piques my interest. The idea of a small-town Christmas story filled with laughter and warmth is always a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, especially during these trying times. I eagerly anticipate immersing myself in the lives of its residents and experiencing their journey as they navigate through the twists and turns that come their way, all while enjoying the beauty of the seaside town at Christmastime.

Fiona Shaw, Bill Nighy join the principal cast, alongside Lolly Adefope, Katherine Parkinson, Sindhu Vee, Guz Khan, and Alex Macqueen from the series “Ghosts”.

Pop artist Ed Sheeran shares he’s lent his talent for a unique Christmas movie tune.

For several years, I’ve been good friends with Richard Curtis, during which we’ve collaborated on numerous charity projects. We also worked together on the movie “Yesterday.” Two years ago, Richard approached me to listen to an early version of “That Christmas.” It was only in sketch form with voiceovers, but it left a profound impression on me, as he stated in a release.

Since becoming a parent, I’ve noticed a scarcity of fantastic animated Christmas films for kids. Creating and sharing this project felt incredibly rewarding, like adding something wonderful to the world.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but find it utterly astonishing that there aren’t more Christmas-themed animated films for young ones. However, this production is destined to become a cherished holiday tradition, at least within our family. Here’s hoping everyone will appreciate it as much as we do and enjoy the music. We had an absolute blast creating it!

Richard Curtis discussed his initial encounter with an animated film, describing it as a “truly astonishing journey.”

It’s thrilling to witness the vivid world I had envisioned becoming a reality, far surpassing anything I could have ever dreamt. Remarkably, it’s filled with an exceptional cast of actors, whose voices breathe life into hilarious and captivating characters.

That Christmas is released on Netflix on December 6.
