Jodie Turner-Smith approves of ex Joshua Jackson dating Lupita Nyong’o: ‘We need happiness’

As a cinema devotee and avid follower of Hollywood news, I have witnessed my fair share of celebrity relationships and divorces. However, the recent developments between Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson, followed by his rumored romance with Lupita Nyong’o, have left me in awe and with mixed feelings.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I’ve got to share an update on Jodie Turner-Smith’s recent marital development: just under a year ago, she initiated divorce proceedings against her former spouse, Joshua Jackson. Yet, despite this turn of events, she extends her well-wishes his way – even in his romantic pursuits.

Actress Danielle Brooks, known for her roles in “Queen & Slim” and “The Acolyte,” expressed her support for Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan’s rumored relationship in an interview with The Cut on Friday. She simply stated, “I’m happy for them.” Reports of their romantic connection emerged after the divorce filing by Brooks in October, and public sightings of the pair together fueled dating rumors in December.

A few weeks after Turner-Smith’s divorce announcement made headlines, Nyong’o disclosed on Instagram that she and Selema Masekela had ended their relationship due to “deception” and “heartache.” In December, images emerged of Jackson and Nyong’o holding hands in Joshua Tree and shopping at Erewhon. At the start of this year, paparazzi captured the pair locking lips by a Mexican beach during their getaway.

Turner-Smith, aged 37, and Jackson, 46, quietly got married in August 2019. They have a shared four-year-old daughter named Juno Rose Diana Jackson, born in April 2020. The presence of their little girl is the reason behind Turner-Smith’s acceptance of Jackson’s relationship with Nyong’o, as revealed by the “After Yang” actor.

As a movie buff, I can relate when a mother expresses her desire for happiness in order to peacefully co-parent. I’m striving for that harmonious relationship between ex-partners, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin seem to have achieved. I sincerely hope their happiness translates into a better family dynamic for us all.

In 2019, Turner-Smith gained significant recognition with the lead role of “Queen” in the film “Queen & Slim,” where she acted alongside Daniel Kaluuya as “Slim.” However, despite her prominent part in the movie, many tabloids referred to her as just “Jackson’s girlfriend” both during and after its premiere.

“It was taking away from a moment that I needed to have on my own,” she told the Cut.

She commented: “This brought a worldwide discussion on my relationship and its validity into the open, a conversation that was particularly sensitive for me due to my pregnancy – a period of immense vulnerability.”

After starring in “Queen & Slim,” Turner-Smith has been featured in numerous films and TV shows. She acted alongside Colin Farrell in Kogonada’s “After Yang.” In Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise,” she also made an appearance. Additionally, Turner-Smith has appeared in several episodes of “Sex Education” on Netflix. Recently, she joined the cast of the newest Star Wars spinoff series, titled “The Acolyte.”

According to Turner-Smith, a divorce is not a sign of failure as she expressed in her conversation with The Times of London in February. Rather, it represents an opportunity for new beginnings.

“It takes great courage to admit when things go wrong and take action, and I strive to model this behavior for my daughter,” she expressed.
