Jodie Marsh reveals she still owns THAT belt bra 11 years on after numerous attempts to auction it off
As a huge fan of Jodie Marsh, I can’t help but be in awe of her incredible journey from pop culture icon to animal sanctuary owner. The image of Jodie wearing those iconic camouflage belts is etched into my memory, a symbol of her fearless spirit and unapologetic nature.
She cemented her place in pop culture history when she went clubbing wearing two camouflage belts.
Eleven years after the fact, Jodie Marsh has disclosed that she continues to possess the renowned outfits, in spite of making multiple efforts to let them go.
In 2003, the glamour model made news by wearing revealing straps as a form of modesty at the closed-down London club Funky Buddha during a night out.
To TopMob, Jodie shared her desire to sell some items, abandoning the limelight to manage Fripps Farm in Essex. She expressed eagerness to do so for Fripps Farm’s financial needs, but has encountered challenges in finding a buyer.
Jodie, aged 45, shared: “I haven’t gotten rid of them yet. Some folks have suggested framing and hanging them up on the wall.”
She mentioned, “I have a picture of myself wearing those items in my living room because of their iconic status. It’s appealing in an unassuming way, as it’s just a small framed photo on the windowsill.”
Asked what she planned to do with the belts themselves, Jodie confessed: ‘I don’t know.
If I had sufficient funds, I would sell these items at an appropriate auction house to generate income for the animals.
“EBay and similar platforms aren’t always reliable options for conducting transactions due to the presence of trolls who disrupt auctions with false bids, ultimately requiring the cancellation of the entire process.”
If I came across a person who is capable of auctioning them for me or genuinely wants to purchase them, I would be more than willing to sell.
Last year, Jodie put up items for sale on Depop priced at £25,000 each, and disclosed her readiness to offer a personal meeting with the successful bidder as an added incentive.
In the year 2016, she was presented with 56 bids for the bra, one of which reached an astounding £150,000. She shared this information with TopMob then, expressing her excitement but also adding a note of caution: ‘I’ve confirmed with eBay that this appears to be a genuine bid! However, I’m trying not to get too carried away just yet.’
If the Being Me Campaign receives the greatest share of my funds, and I was planning to donate smaller amounts to animal charities as well, but unfortunately, the sale did not go through.
Nowadays, Jodie is far more comfortable in hoodies and wellies than in skimpy outfits.
When it comes to her daily routine at Fripps Farm, she admitted honestly, “I hardly manage to squeeze in a quick snack of crisps or even heat up a frozen pizza before hurrying along. Showering and applying makeup are luxuries I rarely have the chance to indulge in.”
With hundreds of animals to look after, including birds and reptiles, constant care is necessary.
Approximately 80% of those, according to Jodie’s assessment, would have been euthanized if not rescued by Fripps.
Jodie and her team of few volunteers have a huge project on their hands, yet she shared the reason why bringing in more assistance isn’t an option.
Jodie cautioned, “It’s important to only trust individuals whom we personally know. Acquaintances of ours are the only ones we allow in.”
I prefer having control over who enters my home and stays for extended periods of time. Uninvited guests might be harmless, such as curious fans, but there’s also a risk of encountering malicious individuals, like trolls, masquerading as volunteers to spread rumors or cause trouble.
As a lifestyle expert reflecting on my experiences, I’ve encountered quite a few individuals who surprised me with their unusual behaviors or hidden complexities. Former partners, in particular, have sometimes revealed themselves to be narcissists, psychopaths, or just plain weirdos, leaving me more cautious than ever when forming new connections.
After the sad passing of her mother, Kristina, in September 2020, Jodie found the motivation to establish Fripps Farm.
During Covid-19, when my mother fell ill, her condition worsened rapidly. Since hospitals were dismissing cancer patients due to the pandemic, my father and I had no choice but to look after her at home.
The experience was truly dreadful. I abandoned my job and surrendered all other commitments to look after my mother. Witnessing her passing made me deeply reflect on the fleeting nature of life.
Instead of taking on another TV show or photo shoot, why not focus on activities that align with your personal goals and bring you genuine happiness? It’s essential to prioritize what truly resonates with you in life.
“An animal sanctuary is what brings me joy and fulfillment, as it has been my deepest desire since long ago. I have always seen it as my ultimate goal.”
