Jodie Comer’s award-winning drama is now available to watch at home
As a seasoned gamer of both the digital and theatrical worlds, I must say that the opportunity to stream Jodie Comer’s award-winning play “Prima Facie” is an absolute game-changer! Having missed its initial run due to the demands of my virtual quests, this second chance is like finding a rare in-game item hidden deep within a dungeon.
After breaking box office records, the critically acclaimed play starring Jodie Comer, titled Prima Facie, can now be streamed and watched from the comfort of your own home.
For a brief period, beginning on December 12, The National Theatre and Empire Street Productions are offering “Prima Facie” for online streaming exclusively on the National Theatre at Home platform, in honor of their streaming service’s fourth anniversary.
Suzie Miller’s one-woman play, directed by Justin Martin, has been watched by more than 835,000 people worldwide following its recent re-release in cinemas through National Theatre Live.
Initially, “Prima Facie” was performed live during its fully booked run in 2022. This performance earned Comer numerous accolades for her acting skills, such as an Olivier and a Tony Award, when she repeated the role on Broadway.
In a surprising turn of events, Comer’s character, Tessa the accomplished barrister, is compelled to grapple with the boundaries where legal authority, the weight of evidence, and moral compasses intersect, due to an unforeseen incident.
Prior to its cinema rerelease in September, Comer shared her disbelief upon being offered the role.
In a burst of excitement, I found myself captivated by Suzie’s masterpieces. The allure was so strong that I simply couldn’t resist getting involved. There was an undeniable mix of fear and exhilaration that accompanied this decision.
I pondered, “What an exciting adventure lies ahead, performing eight shows each week!
In simpler terms, when discussing the topic, it’s as if we’ve been practicing in a rehearsal space and analyzing statistics daily. But then, when you step onto the stage before a live audience of around 800 people, you get to hear their reactions and understand their feelings directly.
This month, the National Theatre at Home has additionally featured “Present Laughter” starring Andrew Scott and “The Grapes of Wrath,” as well.
Prima Facie is now available to watch on National Theatre at Home for a limited time only.
