The new film starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, The Death of Robin Hood, will be released in UK cinemas on Wednesday, September 2nd. The first trailer for the movie was shown earlier this year.
The movie offers a gritty and intense take on the classic Robin Hood story, but it’s more than just action and violence – it delves deeper into the character.
The film centers on an older, battle-worn Robin, played by Jackman, who is nearing the end of his life. After sustaining a serious injury he thinks will kill him, he begins to accept his fate and prepare to die.

Okay, so the story follows this guy who’s completely alone and basically at the end of the line. Then, this incredible woman shows up and offers him something he’s never had before – a real shot at making things right, finding forgiveness, and ultimately, being saved. It sounds amazing!
The film features Hugh Jackman and Rosamund Pike, along with Bill Skarsgård, known for his roles in IT and Nosferatu; Murray Bartlett, who appeared in season one of The White Lotus and Looking; and Noah Jupe, from Hamnet.

Behind the camera, Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One‘s Michael Sarnoski both wrote and directed the film.
Sarnoski previously shared that working on the film was a fantastic chance to reimagine and update the classic story of Robin Hood.
Finding the right actors to bring this story to the screen was crucial. I’m incredibly excited and confident that Hugh and Jodie will deliver a truly impactful and moving performance.

Hugh Jackman will also star in the upcoming comedy The Sheep Detectives, based on Leonie Swann’s 2005 novel Three Bags Full. The film is scheduled for release in November.
Following his popular return as Wolverine in the 2024 film Deadpool & Wolverine, rumors suggest Hugh Jackman may reprise the role in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Nothing’s confirmed, but Jackman has said that he’s “never saying ‘never’ ever again”.
The Death of Robin Hood will be released in UK cinemas on 2 September.
