Jo Whiley reveals her husband was left ‘horrified’ after discovering her secret ingredient for Christmas dinner

Jo Whiley shared that her husband, Steve Morton, was shocked to learn her special ingredient for Christmas dinner.

The 60-year-old radio DJ was shocked and upset by how his family’s holiday meal was being prepared.

Jo revealed a surprising ingredient on her Dig It podcast with Zoe Ball on Monday, leaving listeners shocked.

She said: ‘My secret ingredient has always been a really good dash of ketchup.

‘It gives that slightly vinegary and everyone loves it.’

Steve just found out about the ketchup, and he wasn’t happy, as Jo shared. Apparently, her husband was shocked last year when he saw her adding it.

‘He’s been eating this gravy for years and praising it. But now, he insists its wrong?’

‘Obviously i’m going to keep doing it,’ Jo added.

Fans were surprised to learn that Jo secretly appeared in a beloved Christmas movie.

Though she’s famous for her work on the radio and her musical talent, the DJ recently revealed she had a small, uncredited role in the beloved holiday film Love Actually.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Jo was telling this amazing story on her podcast, ‘Dig It,’ with Zoe! It was a Christmas quiz, so festive, and they even had their daughters join in! I was practically glued to my headphones, it was the cutest and most interesting thing ever!

Jo shared a fun fact during the show: she’s the voice of the radio DJ in Love Actually! She then played the famous scene where the Prime Minister dances to “Jump” by The Pointer Sisters in 10 Downing Street.

The conversation started with Jo revealing she provided the voice for the DJ in a specific scene, prompting Zoe to exclaim, ‘You did! You’re in Love Actually!’

Zoe’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Nelly, was shocked when Jo then playfully quoted a line from one of her well-known bits: ‘That’s exactly what the girls were saying – a classic for a classic! This one’s for the Prime Minister, and it’s Hugh Grant.’

A visibly shocked Nelly said: ‘Oh my God, I never realised that it’s you!’

Jo’s daughter, India, 33, called it ‘the coolest thing you’ve never done,’ and her sister, Coco, 17, concurred.

Zoe said: ‘That IS the coolest thing you’ve ever done.’

In a memorable scene from Love Actually, Jo announces The Pointer Sisters’ song, playfully dedicating it to the British Prime Minister with the line: ‘It’s almost enough to make you feel patriotic, so here’s one for our tough-as-nails leader.’

He’s sure to love this – a classic song for a true original! The Prime Minister then surprised everyone by starting to dance along to the music.

Although Hugh Grant became famous for playing the charming Prime Minister in Richard Curtis’ romantic comedy, he later confessed he actually found the experience ‘quite painful’.

He admitted to Diane Sawyer in the ABC News special ‘The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later’ that he immediately disliked the idea of performing the dance scene. ‘I really didn’t want to do it,’ he said, ‘not the dance itself, and certainly not the rehearsals.’

Writer and director Richard Curtis, who was also interviewed, jokingly remarked that he repeatedly heard ‘no’ from the person they were discussing.

I suspect he wanted me to get sick so we could cancel the dance scene, claiming it was a shame but unavoidable.

Richard explained that Hugh was in a bad mood on the day they filmed the dance scene, but he had to finish the scene anyway because he was contractually obligated to do so.

Hugh jokingly called it a ‘contractual guillotine.’ He also admitted he was feeling off-beat, particularly at the start when he was moving around.

Richard praised Hugh’s dedication to the scene, playfully commenting that his performance was wonderfully and hilariously awkward. He said he thought to himself, ‘This is painfully embarrassing – he’s absolutely nailing it!’

Hugh explained that he was the one who suggested the Prime Minister’s secretary film him dancing.

Even now, many people – and I share their opinion – consider it the most painful scene ever filmed.

‘But then some people like it!’
