JJJJound’s Vans Half Cab Returns in 2026: Here’s How To Get Yours

The JJJJound x Vans Half-Cab 2026 will be released on May 19th in Black and Burgundy colorways. It will be available directly from Vans. The product’s SKU and retail price are yet to be confirmed.

JJJJound and Vans are revisiting their popular Half Cab collaboration with a new release planned for 2026. Available only through Vans starting Tuesday, May 19th, the shoe builds on the design of the 2025 version. It features a minimalist look with removed ankle padding, replaced by JJJJound’s signature nylon tongue, and continues the Half Cab’s transition into a stylish, everyday shoe.

It’s important to understand how JJJJound approached redesigning the classic Half Cab skate shoe. Most collaborations focus on adding elements – like higher-quality materials, more prominent logos, or extra details. JJJJound, however, took a different route, focusing on subtraction. By removing the ankle padding, they completely changed the shoe’s feel and how it fits, shifting it from a purely functional skate shoe to something more like a versatile piece of everyday clothing. The nylon tongue, a trademark of JJJJound’s collaborative work, provides a subtle textural contrast with the suede without being visually distracting. Ultimately, this version of the Half Cab feels more understated than the original, but it’s actually built with more intention and care.

Justin Saunders’ design studio, founded in 2006, has always focused on identifying what makes classic design truly enduring. Everything the studio creates is examined with one key question: what’s left when you strip away all unnecessary elements? This approach is perfectly illustrated by the Half Cab shoe. It originated when skaters modified the original Caballero high-top to improve its performance – essentially, they improved it by removing parts. JJJJound’s work simply builds on this idea of refined simplicity.

JJJJound’s partnership with Vans began in 2017 with a unique take on the classic Old Skool shoe. They introduced a style featuring muted suede and off-white colors, which quickly became their signature look. Building on that success, they applied the same aesthetic to the Half Cab in 2025, and it sold out quickly, leading to another release planned for 2026. JJJJound intentionally keeps these Vans collaborations exclusive and limited, as a way of rewarding their dedicated followers.
