Following Jimmy Kimmel’s unexpected suspension on Wednesday, the Daily Mail is revisiting some of his most talked-about and controversial on-air moments.
On Wednesday, ABC’s local stations decided to cancel Wednesday night’s broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live! after Kimmel made controversial comments regarding the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, publicly criticized Jimmy Kimmel’s comments in a statement released on Wednesday.
Alford stated that Mr. Kimmel’s remarks following Mr. Kirk’s death were hurtful and poorly timed, especially given the current political climate. They also don’t believe these comments represent the diverse beliefs of the communities they serve.
As someone who keeps a close eye on cultural trends, I’ve noticed Jimmy Kimmel, now 57, has become increasingly vocal about his political views lately. He’s definitely not shy about sharing his progressive beliefs, and he was a frequent and outspoken critic of Donald Trump during his presidency. It’s become a pretty consistent part of his public persona.
Daily Mail has reached out for comment to Kimmel’s publicist.

On Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel addressed the sensitive issue surrounding the shooting at a Utah college campus. He offered a unique perspective on the aftermath of the incident, in which a 22-year-old was accused of killing a student.
Kimmel said things reached a new low over the weekend, as supporters of Donald Trump, or the ‘MAGA gang,’ tried hard to distance themselves from the person who allegedly attacked Charlie Kirk. They seemed more focused on using the incident to their political advantage than addressing the situation itself.
Post election meltdown
As a lifestyle commentator, I have to say the November 6th, 2024 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live was particularly interesting. Following the election results – with President Trump winning over Kamala Harris – Jimmy really let his feelings be known. It was a very direct expression of his political views, and definitely sparked a lot of conversation!
The comedian lamented a difficult night for women, children, and the many hardworking immigrants who contribute so much to this country. They also expressed concern for issues like healthcare, the environment, scientific research, journalism, justice, and freedom of speech.
He went on to say it was a truly awful night – difficult for everyday people, those in the middle class, seniors depending on Social Security, and for Ukraine and its allies, as well as a blow to democratic values and basic human decency.
Let me tell you, election night was rough – not just for those who *didn’t* support the winning candidate, but honestly, for those who did too. It’s a strange thing to say, but sometimes the consequences of an election don’t reveal themselves right away. It takes time to see the full picture, and ultimately, everyone feels the impact, one way or another.
The host, clearly upset, concluded by saying it was a great night for Putin, for the resurgence of polio, and for wealthy figures like Elon Musk and the tech industry in Silicon Valley.
And everyone who willingly abandoned their principles to support Donald Trump.

Mean Streak
Let me tell you, as someone who’s seen a lot of interviews, Jimmy Kimmel really proved he can think on his feet back in 2010! He was chatting with Melissa Joan Hart – you know, from ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ – and he wasn’t afraid to get a little playful and even a bit cheeky. It was impressive to see him handle the conversation with such spontaneity.
The song reached the charts shortly after Kevin Hart, a popular sitcom actor from the 1990s, was voted off of Dancing with the Stars.
Jimmy Kimmel jokingly asked Kevin Hart if he ever thought about using magic to gain an edge during the competition.
Hart replied, ‘Ah, whoa hold on – that joke is like, 1996.’
Kimmel responded, ‘That’s true, but honestly, you’re not so innocent either.’ He then playfully called himself ‘evil’.
One Reddit user commented on the situation, saying the reply was so harsh it was both funny and made them feel bad for the person it was directed at.
