It appears that for me to miss a day’s work, one of Jimmy Kimmel’s children needs to welcome a new family member – a grandchild.

This week, Kimmel welcomed grandparenthood as his eldest daughter delivered a baby girl. During his show on Tuesday, he playfully made light of his eldest daughter’s advanced years.

Unfortunately, our performance was cancelled last night due to the birth of my grandchild. Some may not be aware, but I am a father of four – two young children and two grown ones. My eldest daughter, Katie, is 83 years old.

7 years ago, Jimmy Kimmel’s heartfelt monologue about his newborn son’s congenital heart condition became a viral sensation. Amazingly, that young boy continues to bravely wage his battle – and he’s triumphing over it.
