Jimmy Kimmel Live! to Return Tuesday After Disney Lifts Suspension

Okay, so Jimmy Kimmel’s back! After a week off the air – ABC pulled the plug following some heat from a federal regulator – his show is returning this Tuesday. It was a bit of a bumpy ride, but it looks like things have been sorted out and we’ll have Kimmel back delivering the laughs soon.

Jimmy Kimmel’s show was temporarily suspended after he made remarks about the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which occurred on September 10th.

His departure raised worries about free speech and censorship, especially since it followed a statement from the Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr indicating potential action against ABC.

ABC’s parent company, Disney, said that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return on Tuesday.

Disney announced on Monday that they paused production of the show last Wednesday to prevent making a difficult national moment even more stressful.

We decided to pause the show because some recent comments felt inappropriate given the timing. After careful discussions with Jimmy over the past few days, we’ve agreed to bring the show back on Tuesday.

The comments that led to the suspension happened during the beginning of Kimmel’s show on September 15th.

The show’s host said that over the weekend, supporters of Donald Trump, often called the ‘MAGA gang,’ were working hard to distance themselves from the person who allegedly killed Charlie Kirk, and were attempting to use the situation to their political advantage. The host then showed a clip of former President Trump responding to questions about Kirk’s death, and making light of the public’s reaction.

According to Carr, who was appointed by Trump, Jimmy Kimmel was deliberately misleading the public. This claim stemmed from comments Kimmel made that several conservative voices argued misrepresented the political views of Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the Kirk shooting.

Carr stated that the companies involved can address the issue with Kimmel voluntarily, or the FCC may be forced to take further action.

Trump celebrated Kimmel’s suspension.

The President announced on Truth Social that “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” has been cancelled, calling it “Great News for America.” He praised ABC for what he called the courage to make the decision, adding that Kimmel “has ZERO talent” and lower ratings than Stephen Colbert.

The decision sparked strong criticism, particularly from a small but active group of Republicans who believe it represents Trump attempting to control the media and suppress free speech.

Following the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s *Late Show* earlier this year, which many believed was due to political pressure, experts are now concerned that the Trump Administration may be attempting to suppress criticism on a larger scale.
