Jimmy Kimmel Becomes a Grandfather as Daughter Katie Welcomes Baby Girl

As I stepped back onto my talk show stage last night following an unexpected hiatus, I couldn’t help but share some thrilling personal updates with all of you. Jimmy Kimmel here, your friendly lifestyle guide, and let me tell you – life just got a whole lot more exciting!

During his opening monologue, the A-list comedian, 57, revealed that he is now a grandfather.

He told everyone why he needed to scrap the Monday show – it was because his oldest child, Katie Kimmel, aged 33, had begun labor.

She gave birth to her first child, a baby daughter, with husband Will Logsdon that evening. 

With a warm welcome, let me introduce myself as your show’s presenter. A big thank you for gracing us with your presence, whether physically or virtually. Another round of gratitude to those tuning in from the comfort of their homes, and a special welcome to our Hollywood audience!

We’re resuming our duties today following an additional day of rest. Interestingly, we should have had a performance last evening, but it didn’t happen due to a significant event – my daughter Katie welcomed a new addition to her family as she gave birth last night.

Kimmel shares Katie and 31-year-old son Kevin with his ex-wife Gina, 60.

He and the costume designer were married from 1988 to 2002.

Apart from him, there are two young kids in the family: a 10-year-old daughter named Jane and an 8-year-old son called Billy. He has been married to Molly McNearney, aged 47, since 2013.

Kimmel went on to say: ‘You may not be aware, but apart from my two young children, I also have older kids.’

As a devoted host, I playfully quipped that my oldest daughter, Katie, has reached senior citizen status. Remarkably, it so happened that my granddaughter was born while our show was scheduled to film on Monday.

My eldest daughter, who is 83 years old, goes by the name of Katie. Alongside her spouse, Will, they welcomed a new baby girl during the filming of our show last night.

‘So I decided to be there instead here,’ Kimmel concluded.

Katie, the dedicated artist with a deep affection for animals, hasn’t personally announced her daughter’s birth to the public yet.

In March, she initially shared the news about her pregnancy on Instagram, informing her followers that they were expecting a baby girl.

On September 18, 2020, amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Katie and Will, known as a musician from his Instagram posts, discreetly got married in Las Vegas.

This version maintains the original meaning while providing a more conversational tone that is easy to understand.

A whole year had flown by since that moment, yet it felt like just yesterday when I was eagerly awaiting the news. And now, here I am, beaming with joy as I recount the heartwarming event: exactly one year later, they walked down the aisle once more, exchanging vows in a beautiful wedding ceremony surrounded by their beloved friends and family.

The video from the event captured Katie and her father, Jimmy, participating in a beautiful father-daughter dance following their exchange of wedding vows with Will.

In the days leading up to his daughter’s wedding, the popular TV personality shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming event during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021.

He told DeGeneres that his daughter getting married was a ‘big deal’ to him.

Two weeks back, she celebrated her 30th birthday, an unexpected milestone for my daughter, he remarked. Interestingly, she’s set to get married this weekend, quite a significant event,” Kimmel stated earlier.

He got a congratulatory message from DeGeneres, causing him to spontaneously deliver a humorous speech about finding it peculiar that he was being praised for his child achieving a milestone.

He remarked, “I keep hearing ‘congratulations,’ but I’m unsure what it’s for. It seems they are congratulating me for successfully raising a child who is appealing enough to be desired by only one person. But rest assured, we didn’t intend to get rid of her.

‘We’re not advertising a houseboat on eBay, but rather offering our congratulations.’

Jimmy Kimmel often shares photos of his and Molly’s younger children on Instagram, but generally avoids posting about his grown-up children, who are followed by 3 million users.

He last posted a photo of Katie in August 2021 as he paid tribute to her on her 30th birthday.

He posted a throwback photo of a baby Katie sitting on his shoulder.

Later, Kimmel wrote a touching message, expressing his daughter as both talented and charming.
