Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday night. He was unexpectedly in the dance-off and became the fourth celebrity to leave the show, despite many considering his opponent a strong contender.
Despite receiving some of the highest scores this week, 53-year-old former footballer and star of Leeds United and Chelsea, found himself facing elimination alongside Love Island winner Amber Davies, 29.
Jimmy Hasselbaink and Lauren Oakley received a score of 30 out of 40 for their American Smooth, performed to Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Meanwhile, Layton Davies and Nikita Kuzmin earned 33 points for their Cha Cha, set to Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.”
The Welsh actress faced criticism for her extensive dance background in West End shows before joining the BBC dance competition. Despite consistently receiving high scores from the judges, viewers didn’t vote to keep her on the show.
After a repeat performance by both couples facing elimination, Davies was saved by the judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke – who all agreed to keep her in the competition.
Jimmy Hasselbaink, who received his best score of the competition on Saturday, shared that he thoroughly enjoyed being on the show.

He continued, saying that all anyone can do is give their best performance and then let the audience decide.
‘I was actually quite happy to dance again because I wanted to do better than my previous one.
Oakley, his dance partner, expressed her disappointment about his departure, saying they’ve had a wonderful experience and she’s incredibly proud of his progress.
This shows that anyone can dance with dedication. He’s a football player, and yet he was able to dance beautifully!
I’ve truly enjoyed teaching you, and I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished. You’ve been a wonderful student, and it’s been an honor to work with you.
Her remarks are likely to spark another discussion among Strictly Come Dancing viewers about whether people with a lot of dance training should be allowed to compete.
The only person to top Davies’ score was Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope with a score of 34.

He performed in the musical Billy Elliot and was a member of the dance group Ruff Diamond. They were finalists on Sky’s Got to Dance and made it to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
At the bottom of the leaderboard was YouTube influencer George Clarke with a score of 27.
Drag queen La Voix, EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal, model Ellie Goldstein, and former footballer Karen Carney each received a score of 28, following the previous contestant.
This news follows the announcement that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be leaving the show when the current season finishes.
Claudia Winkleman, 53, expressed gratitude for the lovely messages they’ve received. She also shared that there are still eight weeks left of the show and they’re excited to announce a winner.
Daly, 56, also said they’re excited to continue the show and share the rest of the season with viewers and the contestants.
Strictly Come Dancing is back on BBC One this Saturday, November 1st at 6:35pm with a spooky Halloween special featuring the ten remaining couples.
