As a seasoned talk show host with over a decade of experience under my belt at The Tonight Show, I can honestly say that I am still in love with what I do. Each day brings new opportunities to connect with fascinating people and share their stories with the world. I’ve been fortunate enough to witness the highs and lows of many lives, including my own.
On Thursday, Jimmy Fallon marked the occasion of his 2000th episode as the host of NBC’s The Tonight Show, a role he assumed back in 2014.
The television host, aged 49 and recently signed a contract with NBC to continue hosting their late-night talk show until 2028, shared his appreciation during the program and disclosed the thoughtful present he had been given in celebration of this significant achievement.
Additionally, he received a sweet cake as part of the celebration, with the band and famous attendees contributing to the merriment, according to People.
In a post on X, Fallon announced to the live crowd and online viewers, “We’re celebrating a milestone today – it’s our 2000th episode of The Tonight Show.”
The crowed erupted into applause before Jimmy jokingly asked, ‘So, what did you get me?’

After making the compliment, the star continued by sharing, “I was pleasantly surprised today when I received an email from NBC. In the message, they congratulated me on reaching a milestone of 2000 shows and rewarded me with a gratis one-month subscription to Peacock.”
An image of the email was displayed for all to see, and Fallon added with a chuckle, “A heartfelt thanks goes out to each one of you for staying tuned in, even if that meant dozing off during Chicago P.D. and leaving your TV on.”
The host emphasized, “Both matter a great deal to me, and they provide the motivation I need each night.”
“Jimmy entertained millions worldwide and received thunderous applause from an exceptional live audience,” he declared, igniting a wave of cheers from the audience.
He expressed his gratitude by saying, “Yet, you’ve all stood by me during thick and thin, such as my experiment with bangs back in 2019,” as a picture emerged showing him with short, straight fringe.
A rectangle cake with a night sky theme was given to Fallon, its surface adorned with sweet black icing.
Topping off the massive cake were a microphone, the show’s emblem, the majestic moon, and the stunning Manhattan skyline.
During the festive occasion as captured by People, Jimmy gleamed with joy and spread his arms wide for an iconic photo op. In a jovial manner, he shared with the magazine, “We’ve reached 2000 shows! The next challenge: aiming for superior quality.”

Additionally, The Roots’ members, including their leader and drummer, Questlove, participated in celebrating the achievement.
The record producer spoke openly to the publication and shared his excitement, “It’s fantastic to celebrate our 2000th episode with all of you here.”
It’s been a true pleasure and an honor for us to be a part of “The Roots” band and share our music on late-night TV. We’re proud to have played a role in the long-lasting success of the show.
Tariq Trotter, commonly referred to as Black Thought and the leading rapper of The Roots, expressed his views on the significant event as well.
“Expressing joy over our 2000th episode, the musician acknowledged the commitment of every team member at The Tonight Show.”
Reflecting on my musical journey so far, it’s been quite an exhilarating ride filled with highs and lows, twists and turns. I’m deeply grateful for this incredible experience and can’t help but feel a sense of excitement as we reach yet another milestone. It’s a humbling feeling to share this moment with my beloved family here, who have supported me through every step of the way. I eagerly anticipate what lies ahead in my musical journey – new collaborations, fresh ideas, and the continued opportunity to create music that touches people’s hearts. This experience has shaped me into a stronger, more resilient person, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
At the event marking a significant achievement, stars Shawn Levy, Dave Bautista, and musical act Glass Animals graced us with their presence.
Around five months ago in May, I had the privilege of marking a significant milestone in my hosting career – my ten-year anniversary with The Tonight Show. This iconic program first went on air back in 1954, and before me, there have been some truly legendary comedians at its helm, including Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, and Conan O’Brien.
Jimmy shared with Entertainment Tonight, “I’m doing great actually. My passion for my work remains strong. I enjoy interacting with people, and it’s becoming even more enjoyable as I’ve watched these folks grow up alongside me. I’ve witnessed their triumphs and challenges.”

I’ve encountered my share of disappointing romantic partners. I’ve also met some wonderful ones. Some of these relationships led to marriage and raising children together, with those kids eventually growing up.
“After being part of The Tonight Show for a decade, I’ve experienced so much and cherish the opportunity to continue this journey, creating new memories and friendships along the way. It’s an incredible dream come true.”
Last month in June, the star also renewed his deal through 2028 with the NBC late-night talk show.
“I’ve made people laugh for almost thirty years, bringing joy into households of millions, and captivated crowds on the stage of 30 Rock,” he began in a statement.
Fallon expressed his gratitude for leading “The Tonight Show” and looked forward to more groundbreaking work from him and the dedicated team in the upcoming years at the network. However, he made it clear that he wasn’t modifying his statement – it was Mark who needed to make any adjustments.
In the same press statement, Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, made a remark similar to what he was expressing.
After being criticized in September by 16 present and past employees for fostering a harmful work atmosphere on the show, Fallon will be given a fresh start with a renewal.
In an article for Rolling Stone, it was claimed that Fallon has a reputation for intense emotional outbursts and meltdowns, causing some staff members to cry in designated rooms and leading others to contemplate suicide.

An informed source shared with DailyMail.com back then, “The events described in this article occurred many years ago and no longer represent the current climate.”
According to reports, Fallon expressed remorse to his team during a Zoom meeting. He shared with them, “I genuinely feel terrible and words cannot express how sorry I am.” The staffers described the call as sincere.
He reportedly expressed his mortification and apologies, saying, “I’m deeply sorry if I caused embarrassment to you, your family, and friends. I feel absolutely terrible about it.”
Fallon expressed a desire for the show to be enjoyable for all, and strive for inclusivity. He aimed for it to be an exceptional production.
