Jimmy Barnes thanks his fans as he shares major health update following hip surgery
As a devoted follower of Jimmy Barnes’ illustrious career and emotional journey, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions reading about his latest health update. The man has been through the wringer, from his humble beginnings in Adelaide to the heights of rock stardom, battling personal demons along the way. Yet, he remains resilient and unstoppable.
Jimmy Barnes has given his fans a health update after undergoing emergency surgery.
Recently, the lead singer of Cold Chisel, now 68 years old, had hip surgery due to intense pain that followed a string of performances in New Zealand.
And on Thursday, the rock star took to Instagram to share a video of himself on the mend.
Jimmy, wearing a hospital gown, moved briskly along the hallway using crutches, maintaining a steady and swift stride despite his situation.
In the post’s title, the artist penned, ‘On day five after hip surgery, I’m using crutches for short hall walks and workouts.’
He expressed his gratitude towards everyone who is putting forth their best efforts to help him regain his strength. This group also encompasses those who are encouraging him, as he stated.
Barnes recently noticed a pain in his hip and had to be rushed to hospital for surgery.
At the time, he updated his fans on his health situation via his social media.
‘I’ve got some bad news unfortunately,’ Jimmy said in a Facebook post.
On Thursday morning as I was departing from Dunedin (NZ), I felt a sharp discomfort in my hip. By the end of the night, the pain had become excruciating, so I made a trip to the hospital.
Immediately, the doctors suggest an urgent corrective medical process, then physical therapy to tackle the problem. These doctors are certainly efficient!
‘Providing all goes to plan, I’m expected to make a full recovery in six weeks.’
Jimmy added: ‘Unfortunately, due to this unforeseen operation, my August and September solo exhibitions will all be affected.’
In the near future, those who have tickets will receive additional information as soon as our updated plans are set up.
With a lifetime of commitment to delivering top-notch performances, I find myself constantly torn between not wanting to disappoint anyone and maintaining the integrity of my work. Moving shows is something I vehemently dislike, as it disrupts both my own schedule and that of my audience members. I deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause, but rest assured that your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated.
Included in the post was a picture of Jimmy giving the thumbs up from his hospital bed while his wife Jane posed beside him.
Jimmy has some scheduled performances that have been called off, these are shows in Wyong, Toowoomba, Thirroul, Canberra, and the Sydney Opera House.
Just last month, it seemed as if Jimmy was making a strong recovery after the unexpected health crisis he faced last year that required open-heart surgery.
The singer looked fit as a fiddle as he ‘worked out’ in a boxing ring.
On a vacation with his spouse Jane in Thailand, he uploaded a picture on Instagram showing him exercising at the high-end hotel fitness center.
In a delightful photograph, The Working Class Man’s singer beamed with joy while playfully pretending to box, posing with his arms raised, hinting at a mock sparring session.
In the photo, he appeared robust and self-assured, showing off his characteristic playful smile towards the lens.
