Jimmy Barnes Steps Out With Cane Amid Health Struggles After Secret Love Child Revealed

Jimmy Barnes is still recovering from his latest hip surgery. 

On Thursday evening, the 68-year-old attended the premiere of Jesus Christ Superstar at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre.

The man with the rocking chair leaned on a stylish cane with golden tips, assisting him in maintaining his footing as he walked along the crimson carpet.

Jimmy was in high spirits, even after his recent struggle with health issues, when he stood alongside his cherished family for a photo.

Mahalia Barnes, their daughter who stars in a musical, their granddaughter Rosie Rodgers, and Jane Barnes, his wife, all attended the family night out together.

The performer appeared well-groomed and stylish, donning a complete black outfit that coordinated with his walking stick, and intentionally left his shirt unbuttoned slightly to reveal a peek of his torso.

In February, Barnes faced another setback in his health, this time after undergoing three operations over the past 18 months.

Since the end of 2023, the lead singer of Cold Chisel has frequently been admitted to hospitals for a series of medical procedures. He underwent two hip surgeries and open-heart surgery.

Since late 2023, the main singer of Cold Chisel has been frequently hospitalized due to having two hip operations and heart surgery.

Six months ago, the musician had another hip operation, following the emergency ‘corrective’ surgery he required on his hip last August.

In an Instagram video, it appeared that Jimmy was utilizing a walker and moving slowly along a hospital corridor, only a day after undergoing surgery.

Clad in a hospital robe, Jimmy seemed cheerful as he walked around the facility while donning compression socks and foot pumps.

‘I’m walking, day one. Woohoo! I’ll be jogging by tomorrow. Dancing by Friday,’ he joked.

Jimmy had to postpone two months’ worth of shows in August due to discomfort on one side of his body during a performance in New Zealand, resulting in an immediate corrective hip surgery.

Previously, he had open-heart surgery to fight off a staph infection. Unfortunately, the infection recurred and targeted his hip, requiring additional surgery and a six-week recuperation period.

In October, the rock star, who had faced some health challenges, triumphantly returned to the stage once more, performing alongside his band Cold Chisel at The Entertainment Quarter.

Jimmy’s outing follows news that Barnes has a secret love child.

Two days prior to Christmas, Barnes shared on Instagram that he’d welcomed his eighth child. Besides the four kids he shares with his 67-year-old spouse Jane, there are also three children from his past relationships.

However, neither the rocker nor Katy Lee Carroll, who is his 37-year-old second-youngest child, has publicly revealed the circumstances under which they became part of their family.

As a kid, I was constantly immersed in the tunes of Cold Chisel. My beloved uncle, who played a significant role in my upbringing, would spin Flame Trees, Choir Girl, and My Baby on repeat every time I visited him. I can’t help but be captivated by their music!

She had also experienced a feeling her real father was a rock star, according to a close friend.

‘She said she always felt something bigger,’ the friend said.

Daily Mail Australia discloses that Carroll initially encountered Barnes on February 7, 2020, in the town of Kingscliff located within the Northern Rivers district of New South Wales, a region not too distant from where she resides.

Also present at that dinner were Carroll’s husband and two daughters. 

Carroll’s mother didn’t express the belief that Barnes could be her father until her 32nd birthday in September 2019.

Ever since then, Carroll has been warmly welcomed, loved, and profoundly understood by the Barnes family, as she herself has mentioned.
