Jimmy Barnes says his ‘troubled’ sister became possessed after playing with a Ouija board: ‘She was frothing at the mouth’
Jimmy Barnes has lifted the lid on a terrifying incident that happened when he was child.
In an open conversation, Cold Chisel’s lead singer, now 69 years old, shared the source of inspiration for his recent endeavor – a terrifying novel – and revealed that it stemmed from a genuine event from his childhood in South Australia.
In conversation with the Daily Telegraph, he shared a chilling experience: His 13-year-old sister Linda and her friends were playfully using a Ouija board in the adjoining room one day, but things took a terrifying turn as she exhibited strange and aggressive behavior, suggesting that she was ‘overtaken’ or influenced by some unknown force.
In a conversation with the press, he recounted that she had collided with the wall, causing severe injury to both her head and face, leaving blood everywhere.
In a simpler and more natural manner, the sentence could be rephrased as follows: ‘She collided with another wall and began to panic, at which point Mom, known for her strength, rushed over and restrained her. Linda appeared quite agitated, even showing signs of distress by foaming at the mouth.’

‘She was talking weird stuff that didn’t even sound like her voice,’ he added.
After the shocking event unfolded, I found myself leaning heavily on medical professionals and spiritual guides for support. Yet, even amidst this turmoil, my beloved sister persisted in expressing her struggles right up to the moment she left us in 2022.
The harrowing tale served as inspiration for the author to pen his book, a work that bears loose resemblance to his personal experiences, set in Port Adelaide.
Jimmy boasts an impressive collection of books under his authorship – specifically six titles such as “Working Class Boy,” “Working Class Man” and “Highways and Byways.
Lately, he’s been experiencing some health issues which have caused him to take a break from writing and performing.
Last February, Barnes experienced another setback in his health, having undergone three operations over the course of a year and a half previously.
Since the end of 2023, the artist who became famous for “Never Tear Us Apart” has been repeatedly admitted to the hospital. He underwent two hip surgeries and also had open-heart surgery.
Six months ago, the musician had another hip operation, which followed the emergency ‘corrective’ hip surgery he needed last August.

A video posted on Instagram showed Jimmy, who was still recovering, moving with a walker along a hospital corridor, only a day after his operation.
Dressed in a hospital robe, Jimmy seemed cheerful as he ambled around the facility while donning compression socks and foot pumps.
‘I’m walking, day one. Woohoo! I’ll be jogging by tomorrow. Dancing by Friday,’ he joked.
Jimmy had to postpone two months of scheduled performances in August due to a sudden discomfort in his side that occurred during a performance in New Zealand. This necessitated an immediate corrective hip surgery.
Previously, he had an open-heart surgery to combat a staph infection, but the infection recurred and targeted his hip, necessitating another operation followed by a six-week healing period.
In October, the rockstar, who had faced some health challenges, triumphantly came back on stage to perform alongside his band, Cold Chisel, at The Entertainment Quarter.
The Cold Chisel’s 50th anniversary tour, known as “The Big Five-0,” attracted over 150,000 ticket sales at sixteen different concerts, positioning it among the most eagerly awaited Australian tours for the year.
