Jimmy Barnes breaks his silence after Channel Nine boss quits her high-profile position following X-rated remarks about the legendary rocker at the Logies

I, a diehard fan here, can’t help but share the latest buzz! Jimmy Barnes has finally spoken up after the bigwig from Channel Nine stepped down, all thanks to some inappropriate comments she hurled at ol’ Jimmy during the Logies. Can’t wait to see what unfolds next!

Recently, Amy McCarthy, the executive producer of A Current Affair, left fans astonished by posting a picture of Barnes, aged 69, performing at the Logies. The caption she added was flirtatiously worded: “He should have a place on the dance floor! #stillwoulddancewithhim.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but jump at the chance to weigh in on the recent scandal that’s been buzzing around. On Wednesday, I found myself tuning into Triple M Breakfast with Beau, Cat & Woodsy, eager to hear Barnes’ take on things. To my relief, he set the record straight and let everyone know that he took McCarthy’s comments in stride, assuring us all that he was not offended by them.

He shared that he learned about this just yesterday, but emphasized that it’s not his concern; it’s Channel Nine’s decision what they choose to do. He also mentioned that he found the situation rather harmless.

‘I don’t even know the woman, so I don’t know why she got in so much trouble.’

Following her resignation from the prominent role as executive producer on A Current Affair, McCarthy shared controversial posts suggesting drunkenness at the Logie Awards.

After McCarthy stepped down from her esteemed position as executive producer on A Current Affair, she caused a stir with her questionable posts about being drunk at the Logie Awards.

In a Thursday email, McCarthy communicated that she would be stepping back from her duties, following the controversial statements she made on Facebook earlier this month.

A media expert, formerly holding a higher position as a Senior Producer in Sydney’s newsroom, left her followers astonished upon posting on social media that she had arrived at the Logies ceremony and was now free to enjoy some drinks.

‘I can get drunk now. You thought you’d been spammed before! Standby!’ she said.

McCarthy later added: ‘Luckily my phone died before any evidence could be recorded.’

Additionally, she posted a picture of Barnes on stage during the award show accompanied by a flirtatious remark.

In the email addressed to A Current Affair team members, McCarthy expressed regret for her actions and announced that she would be stepping down from her position.

Apart from her contribution, she expressed her remorse for potentially tarnishing the image of the news broadcast due to the scandal, conceding it was an “unwise error” on her part.

I wanted to express my gratitude for the affection and encouragement you’ve given me during a particularly challenging week,” wrote McCarthy.

I unintentionally committed an error, one that wasn’t designed to cause harm or distress. Regrettably, this action has attracted unfavorable and unpleasant focus to a program I cherish and a group I appreciate deeply. Consequently, I am truly apologetic about it.

Thanks to the encouragement of my loved ones, I’ve taken some time to think things over and have discussions about what’s best for me and the program in the long run. Consequently, I’m resigning from my role as Executive Producer of ‘A Current Affair’, with immediate effect.

Over the last year, I’ve put in a great deal of effort to ensure that ACA reaches its full potential. I’ve dedicated significant resources to this project, and I’m truly proud of the accomplishments we’ve made as a team.

‘I’m not leaving Nine, I’m heading back to the newsroom—a place I’ve loved for over a decade.

I will become part of the news production team, and I am eagerly anticipating getting right back into the swing of things.

After breaking the startling news, the network gently reminded all employees of their respective work ethics or job responsibilities.

Nine’s director of news and current affairs, Fiona Dear, sent the message via email to all staff.

As a committed member of our broadcast team, I feel it’s important to underscore the significance of our behavior in upholding the trust of our audience. This reminder was, in fact, emphasized by our network head in a recent staff communication that was reported by Daily Mail.

Additionally, staff were asked to follow the professional and ethical conduct guidelines set out in the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice, our Social Media Guidelines, and the company’s Gift Policy.
