Jim Morrison bust finally recovered in stunning discovery after 40 years

The statue of Jim Morrison didn’t merit the treatment it received. It seems like fans thought it would be exciting and impressive to vandalize the grave of this legendary figure with graffiti. That’s what happened once the statue was placed above Morrison’s tomb, but one day, the statue mysteriously disappeared.

37 years have passed since the statue was taken, leading one to believe it may be lost forever. However, if you held such a belief, you would be mistaken. As reported by Parisian authorities, while investigating another case of fraud, they uncovered fragments of Morrison’s statue – specifically, his marble shoulders and head.

For many decades now, the statue has been missing its nose, yet the graffiti persists. While the likeness of the sculpture doesn’t resemble The Doors’ lead singer much anymore, due to fan behavior like chiseling parts of it away as souvenirs, Morrison himself certainly didn’t bear the same appearance he had 37 years ago when the statue stood at his gravesite.

Doors fans rejoice as Jim Morrison’s bust has been recovered

If the marble bust is put up for sale, it’s likely to escalate its value. Leaving it at the gravesite might seem unwise, considering it was previously easy to steal and could be so again. Moreover, when it was at the Père-Lachaise cemetery, the public didn’t show much respect towards it.

Paris authorities aren’t revealing much information regarding the location of the recovered artifact or the potential thief at this time, as they may not have all the details yet. The primary focus wasn’t on locating Morrison, but rather on discovering something else. Discovering more about The Doors was just an added benefit. In simpler terms, finding Jim’s bust was like getting a tasty icing on an otherwise unpalatable cake.

10 years following Jim Morrison’s demise, Mladen Mikulin, a Croatian artist, sculpted his bust, which was then placed at his grave site in 1981. However, seven years later, in an intriguing turn of events, the bust mysteriously vanished. It’s hard to imagine how such a theft could have gone unnoticed. Perhaps there were more people involved than we initially thought.

Maybe we should move the statue to a location that’s more secure. It would be fascinating to see it displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, since Jim Morrison wasn’t about being untouchable, perhaps it could still be accessible for appreciation, just not for defacing.
