Jill Jacobson, an actor who appeared in ‘Falcon Crest’ and ‘Star Trek,’ dies at 70
As a lifelong cinephile who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless stars, I can confidently say that Jill Jacobson will be sorely missed by fans of quality television and film. Her career spanned over four decades, encompassing a diverse range of roles from sci-fi to drama, comedy to horror, and everything in between.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jill Jacobson, a prominent figure in television and film, who gained recognition primarily through her contributions to the “Star Trek” series and the drama show “Falcon Crest.
On December 8th, Jacobson passed away in Los Angeles following a prolonged illness, as confirmed by her representative Daniel Harary in a statement to The Times. She was 70 years old. “Beautiful, full of energy, and always positive until the end, she will be dearly missed by many family members, friends, and her cherished dogs Benny and Kowalski,” the statement added.
Originally from Texas, Jacobson had an acting career that lasted over 40 years and boasted numerous credits both on TV and film. Notably, he appeared in a recurring role in the Emmy-winning CBS series “Falcon Crest” for two seasons (1985-1987), playing Erin Jones alongside stars like Jane Wyman and Robert Foxworth. During this time, Jacobson also took on the role of Larue Wilson for eight episodes of “The New Gidget,” a spin-off of the classic 1960s sitcom “Gidget.

It’s been confirmed by his publicist that the well-recognized TV drama actor, Wayne Northrop (who was known for his roles in ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Dynasty’), passed away on Friday at the age of 77.
Throughout her television journey, Jacobson delved into science fiction on several occasions, with brief stints in “Quantum Leap” and various “Star Trek” series such as “The Next Generation,” “Deep Space Nine.” Her small-screen appearances were not limited to these; she also graced the screens of shows like “The Fix,” “Castle,” “Party Down,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Who’s the Boss?” and “Newhart.
Known primarily for her television roles during the mid-1980s and early ’90s, Jacobson also appeared in films such as “Not Just Another Affair,” “Forbidden Love,” “Splash,” “Cats Dancing on Jupiter,” “Last Look” and “Visage.
Jacobson, who was recognized for her volunteer work by the American Cancer Society, earned her degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Following graduation, Jacobson relocated from Texas to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Her first role came in the 1977 horror film “Nurse Sherri,” and more recently, she has showcased her comedic skills on the Los Angeles comedy circuit. To those close to her, her abilities extended beyond just acting.
As a devoted cinephile and skilled culinary artist, I found immense joy in nourishing my dear friends with delicious meals, as expressed by the statement. Beyond my love for movies, I harbored an equally fervent passion for canines and dog rescue initiatives. Each pet that graced my life was cherished deeply.
