In anticipation of my premiere for Jil Sander on September 24th, I, Simone Bellotti, have been keeping tight-lipped about the upcoming collection. Rather than giving sneak peeks, I’ve chosen to divert attention to a unique musical collaboration with electronic artist Bochum Welt that the brand has been promoting instead.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the recent developments! After unveiling a captivating music video for “Wanderlust,” set in Hamburg, Jil Sander has officially made the JS EP by Welt available on vinyl and digital streaming platforms.

In her initial statement, Jil Sander mentioned that Simone Bellotti selected music for his inaugural JIL SANDER project, delving into a medium that evokes and communicates feelings. The 11-track EP from Bochum beautifully embodies the dual spirit of Jil Sander – rigor and abandon. It offers a blend of ethereal ambient, IDM (indie dance music), and experimental house, making it an intriguing listen for fans like me.

Simone Bellotti’s work with the musician is heavily influenced by the brand’s connection to its Hamburg origins. Established in 1968, Jil Sander’s EP embodies the emergence of electronic music spearheaded by German artists such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk.

The musical style aligns with the emergence of Jil Sander’s distinctive design philosophy, blending the dress codes of late-20th-century power dressing and contemporary minimalism. Bochum Welt’s first album was launched through Aphex Twin’s Rephlex record label in 1994, a year that also marked the opening of Jil Sander’s initial showroom in Milan, which eventually served as both the creative and operational hub for her brand.
