JID Is Officially Dropping “WRK” This Friday

Two weeks after performing it at Dreamville Festival, JID is now preparing to release his new track titled “WRK” officially.

On Instagram, the rapper announced that his new song will be released this coming Friday, April 18th, and it will be available on all streaming platforms. This track is his first studio single since the two-pack album, “Blakkboyz present Half Doin Dope/Van Gogh” with Lil Yachty, which was launched in September 2023.

He posted the following video along with the confirmed cover art, signaling the beginning of a fresh chapter in JID’s career. In the video description, he mentioned that embarking on this new journey after his album “The Forever Story” has been an unusual mix of productivity and hard work.

As a gamer, I recall the disappointment of not receiving what I felt I deserved after the release of that album, sending me into a brief, but intense, period of melancholy (not dwelling on it too long though, ’cause I ain’t no wallflower). Fast-forward to when Pluss played that beat in the studio – all I could hear was my old mentor urging, “Let’s get back to WORK.” I strive to live by the philosophy, “You can only control what you can control.” So, this is the first move into a new world under my command. And it’s an absolute mess… but that’s part of the journey.

The song “WRK” represents JID’s initial solo track in approximately two years and, more importantly, his first solo release since he presented his highly-acclaimed 2022 album titled “The Forever Story.

Check back in when “WRK” drops on all DSPs this Friday, April 18.
