The world of Jetpack Joyride expands with Jetpack Joyride Racing, and fans have been eagerly awaiting it. This new multiplayer racing game from Halfbrick Studios delivers a quick and exciting arcade-style experience where skillful drifting, boosting, and smart positioning are key to winning every race.
Jetpack Joyride Racing is quick to pick up and play with its short races and head-to-head competition. However, becoming truly skilled takes practice, and even then, victory isn’t always assured – the rewards are definitely worth it though! This beginner’s guide will walk you through the fundamentals and share some essential tips to get you started.
Jetpack Joyride Racing Gameplay Overview and Basics
Gameplay explained
Jetpack Joyride Racing is easy to pick up and play. It’s all about fast-paced, real-time races with up to six players. You control your vehicle by drifting, using boosts, and trying to keep up your speed as you race around the track.
This tutorial covers everything you need to get started. Matches generally consist of two laps and take place on different maps. Once a match finishes, it automatically restarts unless you go into the settings and exit, meaning it will keep playing continuously.
Controls and tracks
Every race happens on a track that changes with different areas. These areas can either give you a boost or slow you down, so learning what they do is key to winning. All you need to do is tap to control your Joyride!
There are three key areas to keep in mind: Charge Zones, Slow Zones, and Cutout Zones. As you might guess, only the Charge Zone actually gives you a boost.
Charge Zones are the most valuable areas to target because they give you a quick speed boost and help you charge up your special power. Avoid Slow Zones, as they drastically reduce your speed. And be cautious of Cutout Zones – they can temporarily take away your control!
Progression
Okay, so leveling up in Jetpack Joyride Racing is all about collecting cards and unlocking cool stuff with the Season Pass. It’s a little different than other games because there’s no regular in-game money. Instead, you need the Halfbrick+ app to upgrade my gear and use tokens. Basically, that’s how I make everything better!
You can earn tokens and cards within the app. Tokens are used in the shop, while cards are primarily obtained through daily packs, Season Pass rewards, and the Halfbrick+ hub shop. Once you collect enough cards, you can combine them to create cosmetic items like drivers and trails.
Jetpack Joyride Racing Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks to Remember
Here are some simple tips you can follow during your beginner phase of the game.
1. Move along the corners to boost
Turns are crucial in racing – they’re where you can make up ground or fall behind. A smooth, well-chosen line through a corner keeps your speed up and helps you perform your best.
Drifting along the blue racing line makes you go faster, so try not to stay in the center of the track. For turns, get as close to the outside edge as possible to maximize your speed boost.
2. Use boost the right way
Using your boost effectively is key. Avoid activating it while driving through Charge Zones, or you won’t fully recharge. It’s best to collect charge first, and then use your boost for maximum speed.
3. Block opponents to maintain position
I’ve had a lot of success with blocking. By positioning your kart to get in the way when opponents try to pass, you can slow them down, maintain your lead, and even get a small speed boost yourself. It’s especially useful when they’re using a boost.
4. Be careful around Cutout and Slow Zones
Be careful around certain areas of the track, as they can negatively impact your race. Slow Zones will decrease your speed, and Cutout Zones can cause a temporary loss of control. Avoiding these zones is just as crucial as utilizing speed boosts.
5. Push the battle pass for rewards
As a big fan, I’m really excited about the rewards in the Halfbrick+ Season Pass! They’ve got some awesome cards and cosmetics that are going to make the races look fantastic. The more I play and the more races I finish, the quicker I can level up and get my hands on all that cool stuff. It’s a great way to keep things fresh and look good while doing it!
