Jesy Nelson has reached out to her former Little Mix bandmates in an attempt to reconcile after a well-publicized falling out led to her departure from the group.
The 34-year-old singer announced her departure from the group in December 2020, after being a member for nine years. She explained that being in the group had significantly affected her mental health.
Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock have shared that they aren’t currently speaking to Jesy.
Jesy hinted at wanting to reconnect with her former bandmates during a recent TV appearance, fondly recalling their successful years together.
Jesy has been honest about her time in Little Mix, saying it included both very difficult and incredibly happy moments.
We were really close friends and had a great time together. Being in a band felt much stronger and more fulfilling than going it alone. I continued playing with them partly because my brother needed me to help support our family financially, and it was tough to leave the group.
Jesy Nelson’s new documentary on Amazon Prime, titled ‘Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix,’ will explain the reasons behind her departure from the band Little Mix.
Jesy shared a preview of her upcoming release on February 13th during a question-and-answer session on Tuesday.
Jesy explained she’s finally ready to share her story because she’s always been hesitant to speak out – she wasn’t even sure why she’d remained silent for so long. She simply felt now was the right moment to talk about what happened.
Okay, so I’m finally sharing everything – really everything. I’m talking about growing up, about my dad, and finally, finally explaining why I left Little Mix. Honestly, it’s been so hard keeping it all inside for so long, and this is the first time I’ve ever really opened up about it. It was a truly tough time, and I’m ready to tell my story.
For a long time, people have been sharing inaccurate stories about my departure, based on what they said in interviews. This was my opportunity to set the record straight and explain my reasons for leaving.
I’m really hoping this issue is finally resolved, as it’s been a burden for a long time. It was a very difficult period in my life, but I feel much better now, like a weight has been lifted. This is my honest account of what happened.
Leaving the group was tough because there was a lot of public attention and negative press, and it felt like a really difficult time for Little Mix.
Jesy Nelson has hinted at the possibility of a Little Mix reunion and has recently made amends with Simon Cowell, especially after becoming a mother to her daughters.
Jesy rose to prominence on The X Factor and was reportedly estranged from her former bandmates for six years.
In 2011, Simon Cowell brought together the members of what became a groundbreaking girl group on a popular ITV show. They made history as the first band to win the competition, and went on to achieve five number-one hits and sell over 75 million records worldwide.
After their very public disagreement, she’s expressed a willingness to repair things with the other members and potentially reunite Little Mix.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how life’s biggest moments can shift our perspectives. For me, it was the arrival of my twins. Recently, they were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a serious condition, and that diagnosis completely changed how I see things. It’s been a challenging time, but it’s also given me a renewed sense of purpose and a different outlook on life.
Jesy said: ‘They have healed a part of me which I never thought was possible.’
Speaking to The Sun, she suggested a reunion might be possible, saying that they’ve all grown up and become mothers. While she can’t say for sure what the others think, she believes they likely have different perspectives now.
I believe that’s natural as we age, though you never know what the future holds. I have, and always will have, a lot of affection for them.
‘So never say never [to a reconciliation].’
Jesy has resolved her differences with Simon, 66, after he contacted her to offer support when her daughters received a difficult diagnosis.
She said: ‘He called me, he reached out to me when I had the girls’ diagnosis.
We had a long conversation where we talked about his new Netflix show. I watched it and really liked it.
Jesy’s time in Little Mix will be explored in a brand new Amazon Prime Video documentary series.
The documentary series focuses on a very difficult period in her life, following her path to becoming a mother. It details the pregnancy challenges she faced, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and culminates in the birth of her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe.
The trailer begins with Jesy gazing out at an empty stadium, where she shares, ‘I’ve never talked about this before. I always just wanted to make people happy – performing felt amazing, but that feeling didn’t last. I kept everything to myself, and ultimately, I was the one who walked away.’
A series of clips from her time in Little Mix are shown, featuring the singer crying and taking breaks from dance rehearsals.
‘I’ve really struggled keeping all of this in… Now I’m ready to tell my side of the story.’
The documentary also shows a heartbreaking moment where Jesy and her former fiancé, Zion Foster, learn from a doctor that their twin daughters have only a 5% chance of surviving until birth.
It broke my heart to see another clip from Jesy’s hospital stay surface. In it, she’s visibly upset and crying, saying she just hates feeling like her body is failing her. It’s so raw and honest, and really shows how much she was struggling.
Jesy’s mother, Janice, shared her fears about the pregnancy, saying she couldn’t bear to think about something going wrong – little knowing what challenges were still ahead.
Jesy said the documentary is so painful to watch following her twins’ diagnosis.
Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is the most serious form of the condition. Symptoms usually start in babies and include severe muscle weakness, trouble swallowing, and breathing problems.
Jesy is now working to include screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 (SMA1) in newborn screenings. She’s started a petition to add the condition to the standard heel prick test that babies receive shortly after birth.
Jesy is pregnant with twins and is sharing her honest feelings about the experience, including the happiness, anxieties, and challenges of expecting two babies.
This series documents Jesy’s difficult pregnancy, including a rare and dangerous condition called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and the emotional challenges she faced.
Jesy is going through the ups and downs of pregnancy, with regular hospital check-ups and honest talks with family and friends. She’s facing her fears and discovering a surprising inner strength, all with the constant love and support of those closest to her.
I’m so excited for this new chapter with her! It’s not just about seeing her become a mom, though – she’s finally ready to talk about everything she’s been through. She’s going to share what led her to leave Little Mix in 2020, and honestly, I think it’s incredibly brave of her to finally address all the pressure she faced as a pop star, her struggles with mental health, and everything that happened afterward. It feels really important that she’s breaking her silence.
Before becoming a mom, Jesy shared with Amazon that she’s excited to let everyone follow her journey as she prepares to welcome her twin daughters, Ocean and Story. She’s looking forward to sharing this new chapter of her life.
Okay, so I have to tell you, this pregnancy has been intense. Seriously, so many ups and downs, so much worry… it’s been a total emotional rollercoaster, and I’ve been right there feeling every single twist and turn with them. I’ve been completely invested in every moment, the good and the scary, and I can’t wait to share it all – the real, raw journey we’ve been on.
I’m excited to share this new phase of my life with you all as I leave the past behind and embrace what’s next. I truly hope you enjoy following along as much as we’re enjoying it!
