Jessie J Breaks Down Over Powerful New Song Revealing Heartbreaking Miscarriage and Comeback
Jessie J shared that the reaction to her emotionally charged return single, No Secrets – a song born from her heartbreaking 2021 miscarriage – has been ‘extremely powerful’.
37-year-old vocalist struggled to hold back her emotions as she performed poignant verses on Capital XTRA Breakfast with Manny Norte last Friday.
After experiencing a heartbreaking loss, Jessie eventually welcomed her son Sky into the world in May 2023, alongside her basketball player partner Chanan Safir Colman.
About her latest single, reflecting on her initial four years, Jessie expressed: “This track essentially functions as a private journal entry, with conversational and intimate lyrics that represent me personally.
Prior to commencing the performance, I’ll be singing: ‘My baby is gone, yet we press on, don’t we. No doubts, no exceptions, can I weep for a single night? I’ve chosen to stand exposed, under the glare of the spotlight. At times it torments, at times it comforts’.
Jessie paused, choked up by her feelings, as she shared that she penned the lyrics while she was pregnant, and how profoundly her emotions have shifted after the miscarriage.
The singer living in LA expressed gratitude saying: ‘I merely want to thank you sincerely. I wasn’t prepared for the unrelenting love and enthusiasm from the UK upon my return, it’s been truly overwhelming. This support has been instrumental in replenishing my energy and confidence as I prepare to come back again.’

Jessie’s upcoming single “No Secrets,” set for release on May 16th, is being hailed as a deeply personal piece that offers a candid and unrestrained return of Jessie to the music scene.
As I unveil this heartfelt melody, I want to emphasize its deep personal significance while expressing my hope that it resonates universally in your own life’s journey. I’m an open book, always speaking truthfully and with a touch of humor that lightens the load. And let me tell you, humor has been the compass guiding me through this musical adventure.
2023 saw Jessie expressing a deeply emotional sentiment regarding handling grief, likening it to something capable of consuming us entirely.
Accompanying the video of her singing, she penned: ‘Grief is truly an odd, private, and distressing experience. It can unexpectedly surge and consume us entirely.’
It’s not something that you can plan for or rehearse. Many people experience it, yet each person must find their own way to deal with it, and it’s frequently left unsaid.
‘A feeling or thought that dwells deep within us, often hidden and obscure. It can be overwhelming, shrouded in darkness and isolation. But I hold on to the hope that we’re connected.’
Last week, Jessie casually mentioned her forthcoming album during a small concert at Ronnie Scott’s in Soho.
At the casual concert, she offered a sneak peek into what fans might anticipate by performing several of her fresh tunes.

At the intimate acoustic performance, she not only performed but also pondered over the ups and downs of the last few years in her life. This period encompassed a profoundly sad event like a miscarriage in 2021 and a joyful moment with the birth of her son Sky in 2023.
In a conversation with the crowd, Jesse expressed, “This establishes the mood. It serves as a reminder that I create music because I’m a person.” (The Sun’s report)
I face genuine life challenges. I’m an artist who doesn’t use masks or pretenses – just be cautious when searching for me online, especially from as far back as 2010.
Throughout my existence, I’ve experienced peaks as lofty as the tallest mountains, and depths as deep as the darkest valleys. I find fulfillment in serving as the musical accompaniment to people’s moments of triumph and tribulation. It’s this joy that gives me the sense that my life serves a profound and meaningful role.
During her performance, Jessie confidently shared that she was no longer hesitant as she continues her return to the music scene.
In my own words, I’m expressing a sentiment of self-empowerment: “After spending decades in the music industry, juggling multiple record labels and management teams, I can no longer remain understated. It’s time for me to step into the spotlight and share my journey more boldly.
For her musical return, it appears that Jessie is collaborating with Ryan Tedder, who is well-known as Adele’s preferred songwriting partner.
It’s whispered that Jessie has a series of fresh tunes and her fifth studio album prepared, as she collaborates with the lead singer of OneRepublic.
Over the last few years, she’s experienced significant transformations, with the most notable being motherhood, which has sparked her motivation to return to the studio again, as a source had shared with The Sun earlier.
Jesse worked on composing songs alongside Ryan, the creator of ‘I Want Love,’ and together they’ve devised some fantastic fresh melodies.
She wasn’t keen on continuously producing album after album. Instead, she desired an honest and genuine feel for the music.
