Jessica Simpson’s Bold Comeback: Double Middle Finger to Haters Amid Divorce Drama!
At the Luck Reunion 2025 festival in Spicewood, Texas on Thursday, Jessica Simpson sent a clear message to her critics by giving an unexpected performance.
During her performance, the artist known for “I Wanna Love You Forever,” now 44 and making a return to music, flashed the crowd a double-handed gesture that’s commonly recognized as a double middle finger at one point in the show.
It seemed like harmless playfulness as the charming bombshell grinned, making a disrespectful gesture.
The renowned celebrity, having just revealed her separation from Eric Johnson, made an impression in a dress adorned with cheetah spots, complemented by a delicate white lace shawl. She completed the look with turquoise pieces of jewelry.
Over the past two days, I’ve been living and breathing like a star-struck fan! Yesterday, I found myself in the heart of Austin, Texas, witnessing a remarkable moment – she graced the stage at South By Southwest festival after an impressive 15-year hiatus. What a performance it was!
At the Luck Reunion event, Simpson, who has recently stirred curiosity among fans due to concerns about slurred speech, put on an electrifying performance.

Videos taken by the audience show that Simpson sang her 2003 hit “With You” and her well-known 2005 rendition of “These Boots Are Made for Walking.”
The videos recorded by spectators showed that Simpson sang her popular songs “With You” from 2003 and “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” which she covered in 2005.
She had a soft, rosy-pink scarf knotted to her microphone stand as her drummer energetically played on a vibrant, crimson drum kit.
The mother-of-three was also joined by two backup singers and a bass player.
Jessica also had a white Stanley tumbler nearby to keep hydrated.
Previously, during SXSW, she powerfully performed some of her most popular tracks along with a few tunes from the first part of her upcoming EP titled “Nashville Canyon”.
I, utterly captivated, recently witnessed a stunning showcase at the Recording Academy’s Austin Chapter Block Party – an event that left me absolutely spellbound! Incredibly, this electrifying performance unfolded mere two months after she declared her separation from Johnson, her partner of ten years and mother to our three beautiful children.
As a devoted fan following Jessica’s musical journey, I’ve picked up on some intriguing hints in her latest work suggesting a past infidelity by her former spouse – though she hasn’t explicitly verified or refuted these whispers.
The mother of three sang her recently composed piece, titled “Breadcrumbs,” which contains the enigmatic line, ‘Recall your true self, disregard the identity they suggested for you.’
Additionally, the star performed Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” which was symbolic of both her character in The Dukes of Hazzard and her own rendition from the 2005 movie soundtrack.

Greetings everyone, this is Jessica Simpson speaking! Today, I find myself at South By Southwest and I’m preparing to step onto the stage after a 15-year hiatus.” (This version maintains the conversational tone while providing more context and using less colloquial language.)
‘I’m very excited. I’m blessed to be here. I think it’s going to go good. I hope,’ Jessica said.
She reshared parts of her act, including her rendition of “Son of a Preacher Man” by Dusty Springfield.
During the breaks between performances, the artist expressed a touching sentiment to the crowd, saying, “Honestly, I felt like I was just an accidental outcome of popular musicians. However, this time, I needed to remind myself of who I am and what initially drove me to sing.
In a low-cut brown blouse and coordinating skirt, Jessica accentuated her slender silhouette. She completed the outfit with a cream-colored suede jacket adorned with fringes.
The shows take place a week prior to the release of her EP, Nashville Canyon Part 1, which is scheduled for March 21.
15 years ago, Jessica launched her final album titled “Happy Christmas” on November 22, 2010.
Among her other releases, you’ll find Sweet Kisses from 1999, Irresistible (released in 2001), In This Skin (from 2003), ReJoyce: The Christmas Album (which came out in 2004), A Public Affair (released in 2006), and Do You Know, dating back to 2008.
This month saw the release of Part 1 of her song titled “Leave from Nashville Canyon,” which suggests a separation between Eric, though neither has disclosed the specifics of why their ten-year union ended, as they haven’t spoken publicly about the reasons behind their split.
The lyrics convey: ‘There was something enchanting between us, but now it has turned into sorrow. You gave her what I had, and now there’s nothing left for you to draw from.’
In mid-January, Jessica said in a statement to People that her and husband Eric split.
Eric and I have been living apart while dealing with a difficult period in our marriage. The well-being of our kids is our priority, so we’re concentrating on what’s best for them. We truly value the kindness and backing that has been shown to us, and at this time, we kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this challenging situation together as a family,” she expressed to the media outlet.

Jessica hinted at their split for months – and Eric was spotted in November 2024 without his ring.
In her Instagram post, she described the interviews conducted in her Nashville music room as the discovery of her unique talent. She emphasized that this comeback is deeply meaningful to her, serving as an apology for enduring situations that were not fitting for her. Alongside the post, there was a picture of her in a recording studio.
Eric and Jessica tied the knot in July 2014, having dated for a total of four years. They were introduced by a mutual acquaintance back in 2010.
They collectively had three kids: a 12-year-old daughter named Maxwell Drew, an 11-year-old son known as Ace Knute, and a five-year-old daughter called Birdie Mae.
