Jessica Simpson performs live on ‘American Idol’ as prelude to crowning winner Jamal Roberts
Jessica Simpson made her return, gracing the “American Idol” stage during its season finale on Sunday, where she teamed up with one of the eliminated contestants for a performance. On this special night, the Season 23 champion was declared the winner.
The artist known for “With You” emotionally performed her latest track “Blame Me,” which is part of her recent album “Nashville Canyon: Part 1.” This marks her first new music release in nearly 17 years. She made a public appearance for the first time in almost as many years at SXSW in mid-March.

Jessica Simpson’s upcoming song, titled ‘Use My Heart Against Me,’ serves as a preview for her forthcoming country EP, ‘Nashville Canyon, Part 1.’ This collection is set to drop on the 21st of March.
Later, Simpson (who played Daisy Duke in the 2005 remake of the show that originally aired from 1979 to 1985) teamed up with eliminated contestant Josh King for a performance of “These Boots Are Made for Walking.” Interestingly, Simpson had sung this song on the soundtrack for the Dukes of Hazzard movie 20 years prior. The TV show’s cast included Tom Wopat, John Schneider, and Catherine Bach, who portrayed Daisy Duke in her iconic short shorts.

Following his rescue by the judges during the Top 20 round, King advanced to the Top 8 in the show. Ultimately, it was Jamal Roberts who emerged victorious after receiving a record-breaking 26 million votes, according to USA Today. John Foster came in second place and Breanna Nix finished third on the popular singing competition that originally aired on Fox from 2002 to 2016, but has since been revamped by ABC in 2018.

The famous country singer is finding themselves back at square one, as they join forces with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie in judging duties for the 23rd series of the popular TV show.
Originating from Mississippi, Robert, a dedicated Physical Education teacher, climbed to the victorious position by showcasing powerful performances of songs such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me).” This season’s panel of judges consisted of Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie.
In an audition setting, Bryan shared with Roberts (as reported by People), “What captivated me was its authentic Southern soulfulness. Was it impeccable? Absolutely not. But it’s not about striving for perfection and flawlessness. It’s about singing from the heart, and that’s exactly what I felt.
20 years back, Underwood emerged victorious in a popular singing contest, subsequently ascending to stardom in the country music scene. On the other hand, Simpson, who gained fame during the time of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in pop music, began transitioning into country music in 2008 with the release of the album “Do You Know.
After moving out of the limelight, she devoted herself to managing her billion-dollar brand and fashion label, overcame addiction, and penned an autobiography titled “Open Book,” which was released in 2020.

Jennifer Simpson unveiled her latest album, “Nashville Canyon: Vol. 1,” which is her first since 2008. This release comes during her separation from Eric Johnson, her husband of six years who was a former NFL player. The debut single from the album, titled “Use My Heart Against Me,” was released in February, with the complete album following suit in March.
The artist, who has three kids with Johnson, was once married to Nick Lachey, a member of the boy band 98 Degrees. Together, they starred in their own reality show called “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” which aired from 2003 to 2005, and included some spinoff specials as well.
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson ended their marriage in 2005, having been together for three years. Later on, in 2011, Nick tied the knot with Vanessa Minnillo.
