Fans are excited about Jessica Jones‘ return in the upcoming Disney+ series, *Daredevil: Born Again*. At New York Comic-Con, creators shared the first details about the show, which is bringing back many familiar faces from the original Netflix Marvel series. Alongside Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as the Punisher, and will also star in his own Disney+ special. Now, Krysten Ritter is joining the cast as Jessica Jones for a second season, marking her first appearance since her Netflix series concluded in 2019.
At New York Comic-Con, Marvel Television’s Brad Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the second season of *Daredevil: Born Again*, and shared some initial story information.
Following hints in *Born Again* about Daredevil assembling a team and the possibility of the Defenders reuniting, Marvel’s Winderbaum confirmed that Jessica Jones will join the resistance Matt Murdock is forming against Wilson Fisk’s control of New York.
The most effective move was bringing Krysten back into the story and having her join Matt’s fight against Fisk in a difficult and dangerous New York City.
He kept highlighting Netflix’s *Jessica Jones* series, calling it some of the best Marvel TV ever made. The experienced MCU insider also pointed out how Jon Bernthal’s performance as The Punisher in the first season of *Born Again* demonstrated how characters from the wider Marvel universe can connect with Daredevil’s story.
The series *Jessica Jones* is fantastic. I consider its first season, featuring the Purple Man, to be among the best television Marvel has ever produced, and Krysten Ritter truly captures the essence of the character. We also enjoyed how Frank Castle was introduced in the first season of *Daredevil: Born Again*. It opens the door for characters from across the Marvel universe to interact with his story.
Winderbaum and Ritter appeared on a live episode of the *Phase Hero* podcast with Brandon Davis, where they hinted at Jessica Jones’ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Marvel TV executive mentioned that the project has “been in the works for a while.”
We discussed how Season 3 concluded, and I was really pleased with Jessica’s character arc. She finally realized and felt confident that she’d always been a hero, and that’s where we wanted to take her story next.
Kevin Feige discussed bringing Vincent D’Onofrio back to play Kingpin alongside Charlie Cox as Daredevil, highlighting the strong connection between the characters and the actors who portray them. Tatiana Maslany, who plays Jennifer Walters, suggested this dynamic will continue in the second season of *Born Again*, with her character playfully teasing Matt Murdock as she always does, despite them working together effectively.
Matt and Jessica are a great team – they both bring a lot of intelligence to their work and balance each other out. However, Jessica isn’t afraid to tease him and often shares her unique perspective.
According to the head of Marvel Television, about ten years will have passed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe between when fans last saw Daredevil and Jessica Jones teaming up in *The Defenders* and the events of the upcoming *Born Again* series.
Even though certain things will remain constant after a significant passage of time, it looks like we can expect new developments and unexpected events.
It’s been a while since we last saw these characters together, which is great because it lets us refresh viewers’ memories and show them how things have changed. While some core elements will remain familiar, expect new developments and surprises.
The actress said she always believed there were still storylines to explore before Marvel stopped working with Netflix. They had been planning a fourth season, but thankfully had enough time to create Season 3 as a proper ending to the show.
Although Netflix didn’t produce a fourth season of *Jessica Jones* in 2019, Marvel executive Winderbaum has suggested a new series could happen relatively soon. This has led to speculation that the character might return in a revival similar to the *Born Again* project.
The second season of *Born Again* is scheduled to premiere in March 2026. Fan favorites Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Krysten Ritter, Wilson Bethel, Ayelet Zurer, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson are all returning for the eight-episode season on Netflix.
Marvel Has Big Plans for Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 & Beyond
Krysten Ritter revealed on the *Phase Hero* podcast that she finished filming her scenes for Season 2 of *Born Again* around the first week of July. The first footage of her return as Jessica Jones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was filmed in late May.
Filming for *Daredevil* Season 2 on Disney+ took place from late February to early July. The Netflix actress appears to have been involved for the final six weeks of the nearly five-month production, suggesting she has a significant part in the show.
It’s still unclear when Jones will appear in the second season and join Matt Murdock’s fight against Kingpin. However, she might follow a similar path to Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in Season 1 – making a brief appearance around the middle of the season before becoming a key player as the story builds to its exciting conclusion.
Even after Season 2, Jessica Jones’ story isn’t necessarily over. Marvel is considering continuing her adventures with a potential new series or special on Disney+.
The second season of the upcoming Netflix series *Born Again* will definitely feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. It’s still uncertain if Iron Fist and Luke Cage will be included, but it’s likely we’ll either see them appear or learn what they’re up to.
