Jessica Chastain’s upcoming series, The Savant, was originally scheduled to premiere last fall. After a delay caused by the assassination of Charlie Kirk, it is now expected to be released on Apple TV later this year.
Chastain recently confirmed that the film, previously uncertain to be released, is now definitely happening. It’s expected to premiere in July, according to reports.
The Savant Was Postponed Due to Charlie Kirk’s Death
Apple initially planned to release The Savant on its streaming service in September 2025. The series stars Jessica Chastain as an investigator who goes undercover on the dark web to uncover hate groups and stop domestic terrorism. Shortly before the show was set to premiere, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while giving a speech in Orem, Utah, during his American Comeback Tour. Following this event, Apple announced…
The company announced they’ve decided to delay the release of The Savant. They thanked everyone for their patience and said they plan to release the series later on.
After Apple announced its decision, Jessica Chastain shared her own thoughts on Instagram. She disagreed with delaying the series, believing its message was especially important right now. Chastain emphasized that the death of Kirk and numerous other acts of violence in the U.S. over the last five years need to be addressed, and that makes releasing The Savant even more crucial.
Jessica Chastain Didn’t Want The Savant to Be Delayed
In a statement, Chastain expressed her appreciation for her relationship with Apple, praising their collaboration and team. However, she also shared that they disagree with Apple’s recent decision to pause work on a project.
She explained that while these events don’t represent all the violence in the U.S., they highlight a dangerous way of thinking that exists across the political landscape, and it needs to be addressed. She’s always been willing to tackle tough topics, and sadly, her show feels very timely right now. The Savant focuses on the everyday heroes who work to prevent violence, and she feels it’s incredibly important to recognize their bravery. She understands Apple’s decision to delay the release, but hopes the show will be available soon. She’s sending wishes for everyone’s safety and well-being, and will share updates about The Savant when she has them.
The series The Savant, created by Melissa James Gibson, is inspired by Andrea Stanley’s article in Cosmopolitan, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” It features Nnamdi Asomugha, Pablo Schreiber, James Badge Dale, and Cole Doman alongside other cast members.
The Savant is expected to premiere in July on Apple TV.
