As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of empathy and admiration for Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The man is not just a hilarious actor, he’s a loving father who would go to any length to ensure his children’s wellbeing. The Thanksgiving hospital visit with one of his sons was undeniably a harrowing experience, but the way he handled it with grace and resilience speaks volumes about his character.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson revealed that he rushed one of his sons to the hospital on Thanksgiving.

On a Thursday, an actor from Modern Family, aged 49, shared a heartfelt image on Instagram. In the picture, he was seen sitting in a hospital bed, cradling one of his unwell sons against him. The area around them was filled with medical equipment and they were comfortably covered under a blanket.

It was unclear whether it was Beckett Mercer, aged 4, or Sullivan ‘Sully’ Louis, aged 2 – both sons he has with husband Justin Mikita – who required urgent medical treatment. Fortunately, the child is now in good health and has been discharged from the hospital in New York City.

Additionally, he mentioned that Julie Bowen, his co-star from Modern Family, had visited the hospital as well, seeking treatment for her own child.

‘I have received a lot of parenting wisdom from @itsjuliebowen so seeing I wasn’t the only one with a kid in the ER on Thanksgiving was comforting. (He’s also fine.),’ he penned in the caption.

‘Thank you to the kind folks at Lennox Health. NYC really DOES have the best healthcare.’

In a post she authored herself, Bowen showcased a striking photograph featuring one of her adolescent sons standing amidst the mist, with the word ‘Emergency’ illuminated in a vibrant, neon-red hue.

‘Every Thanksgiving seems incomplete without an unexpected visit to the hospital. (Don’t worry, he’s okay though) Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!’ she wrote beneath the picture.

The actress shares Oliver, 17, John 15, and Gustav, 15, with her ex-husband Scott Phillips.

In response to Ferguson’s post, Sofia Vergara, his co-star, left a comment saying “Oh no” in the comments section, which suggests she may have had a reaction of disapproval or surprise.

Supporters flocked to comment sections, writing heartfelt messages of support for the caring parent, offering their good wishes for his child as he recovers from an unspecified ailment, hoping for a swift healing.

‘Sending love this difficult week. Hope your son has a speedy recovery ❤️‍,’ one wrote.

Another chimed in, ‘Oh my goodness! This is so much! So glad he is ok. Hope you are too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️.’

Every bit of Black Friday madness had me buzzing like a bee, but you know what really stole my heart? My little four-year-old, the pride and joy of Missoula, Montana, striking a dapper pose by the window, all dressed up in his suit, just taking it all in. I couldn’t resist sharing that moment on my Instagram Story!

‘Thankful for friends who are helping us build memories for our kids,’ he penned above the snap.

Ferguson and Mikita became parents to their two sons, Beckett Mercer (born in July 2020) and Sullivan Louis (born in November 2022), through the process of surrogacy.

In April, the actor shared with People that they were fortunate to have a remarkable surrogate who brought both Beckett and Sullivan into the world. They developed a close friendship with her and her spouse.

The pair previously revealed that they were raising their sons as feminists.

This Thursday, the actor disclosed that his mother had tragically passed away recently, on Tuesday the 25th, by posting an old picture of them together from when he was a young boy.

He shared a brief tribute to his mother but did not disclose the cause of her death.

Reflecting on it now, that snapshot of me walking away from my mother’s loving embrace as a baby has always been special to me. Just a few days ago, I was by my mother’s side as she took some of her final steps. We bid our farewell to her on Tuesday, November 25th.

Today, I feel incredibly grateful to have shared her last moments here on earth. A mother is a treasure, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Forever and always, my arms will be ready to embrace you. Rest in peace, Mom.
