Jesse Tyler Ferguson bought the family Halloween costumes early. He won't be doing that again

As a seasoned cinema devotee with a penchant for delving into the lives of my favorite stars, I must say that Jesse Tyler Ferguson‘s journey from television screens to Broadway stages is nothing short of inspiring. His life experiences, particularly his personal and professional milestones, are as captivating as any script penned by a master storyteller.

Many parents of young children find themselves concerned about the dangers of purchasing Halloween costumes at the last minute, as popular costumes might already be sold out if they delay their shopping.

But Jesse Tyler Ferguson has learned that planning in advance has its own perils.

Ferguson admitted to me that he purchased his Halloween costume way too ahead of time, six weeks in fact, as he shared this with Page Six on Sunday night during the opening of ‘Sunset Boulevard’ on Broadway,” is a paraphrased version of your original sentence. This maintains the same meaning while using slightly different wording to make it easier to read and understand.

The former “Modern Family” cast member, who has sons Beckett (age 4) and Sullivan (age 1) with his partner Justin Mikita, referred to his mistake as a “beginner’s error.

Ferguson shared that his initial idea, which was to dress up as a family of skeletons, didn’t work out because his eldest son switched his decision multiple times. In the end, he decided to go as a tarantula instead.

The Emmy-nominated actor quipped that he recently noticed a tarantula costume in their Amazon cart, teasingly suggesting Justin is the more timid one. However, they’ve adjusted their plans. Instead, they will dress up as Cole Escola and Conrad Ricamora, who portray Mary Todd Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln in the Broadway play “Oh, Mary!”, respectively – a darkly comic production.

Over a decade past, Ferguson crossed paths with his partner Mikita in the vibrant district of West Hollywood. It was around the time when “Modern Family” was starting to gain significant traction. After a period of two years, they decided to take their relationship to the next level by getting engaged in 2012.

In that very same year, the pair established the Tie the Knot Foundation to aid organizations advocating for marriage equity.

Mikita stated to The Times at the beginning of the project that this is a significant and current societal concern, which makes big companies cautious about supporting it.

In the following year, I had the immense honor to preside over Ferguson and Mikita’s 2013 wedding in downtown New York – one of the select locations where same-sex marriages were legally permitted at the time. It was truly a memorable occasion. Fast forward to today, it turns out that Ferguson himself has stepped into the officiant role, uniting his former co-star Sarah Hyland and “Bachelor in Paradise” star Wells Adams in matrimony.

Apart from organizing Halloween events, Jesse Tyler Ferguson mentioned in an interview with Page Six on Sunday that he is also preparing for his upcoming performances on stage.

He mentioned that he has a project coming up on the West End, which isn’t public yet. Additionally, he plans to perform Shakespeare in the park during the summer season of the following year.

Ferguson previously earned a Tony Award for his role in the 2022 Broadway revival of “Take Me Out.”
