The 45-year-old actor, recognized for his appearances on the Australian soap opera Neighbours and the American medical series House, is making a comeback on Australian television with the program titled Last Days of the Space Age.
In the trailer for the Disney+ series, I find myself observing a noticeable transformation in the actor’s appearance. The charm that once captivated us with his youthful allure and stunning golden locks is now subtly altered across various scenes of the upcoming show.

The story unfolds around three local families residing in Perth during 1979, when an American spacecraft unexpectedly collides near their city, which is located in Western Australia.
Jesse portrays character Tony Bissett, who balances his role as a father with spearheading a labor action at the nearby power station.
Spencer finds the latest series to be a refreshing change, as he’s been seeking an Australian project after spending years working in the United States.
He informed the Sydney Morning Herald that he had likely been searching for a film or show produced in Australia as far back as 2004.
We encounter periods of break, yet managing a television series isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes I got up to six weeks of downtime, occasionally even more, but producing a show proves quite challenging.
‘Once you’re in [network TV], it’s very hard to get out of,’ he explained.
The Melbourne-born actor also spoke to TV Week about his reasons for joining the Disney + production.
After parting ways with Chicago Fire, I embarked on starting a family. This phase lasted for some time, until the opportunity for Last Days of the Space Age presented itself.
Over the past two decades, it had been quite some time since I worked on an Australian project. However, these last few months were simply wonderful as I immersed myself in this new endeavor, and my enthusiasm couldn’t be contained.
Jesse gained momentum in his acting career when he starred on the long-standing soap opera “Neighbours” from 1994 to 2000, playing the role of Billy Kennedy, the youngest son of Dr. Karl and Susan Kennedy.
Starting from 2004 until 2012, he moved to the United States and achieved a major opportunity on the medical series “House,” where he portrayed Dr. Robert Chase, sharing the screen with Hugh Laurie.
Jesse played a leading role in the action drama series Chicago Fire until 2020, and since then, he’s made recurring appearances as a guest star on the program.
In the year 2020, he exchanged marriage vows with his long-term partner, researcher Kali Woodruff, during a low-key event held in Florida.
The Australian actor revealed the happy news to The Daily Telegraph and called the couple’s special day their ‘silver lining to 2020.’
Even with an increase in COVID cases, a shift in location, a Saharan dust cloud, and a heavy downpour during a thunderstorm, we successfully completed our wedding, and I feel incredibly fortunate, Jesse shared with the media.

Melbourne-born Jesse began dating Kali after meeting her a Chicago music festival in 2014.
