Jess Wright has shared some things she wishes had gone differently on her wedding day. Her mum, Carol, also admitted to a surprising and somewhat disruptive stunt: she unexpectedly showed up at her husband’s stag do and then wouldn’t leave!
Jess, age 40, married William Lee-Kemp in a lovely wedding ceremony held in Mallorca, Spain, in September 2021.
In a recent episode of her family’s podcast, Wright At Home, Jess shared that she doesn’t view a past experience with entirely positive feelings.
She shared that planning her wedding during the COVID pandemic was stressful because the rules in Spain kept changing.
You know, I’ve talked to a lot of brides, and it’s interesting how sometimes the ‘perfect’ day isn’t quite as perfect in retrospect. I was chatting with a woman named Carol – she was being really honest with her mom and sister – and she admitted that while she loves her husband, she doesn’t look back on her wedding with total happiness. It’s refreshing to hear someone be so real about it, because let’s face it, weddings are a lot of pressure, and it’s okay if it wasn’t flawlessly joyful!
To which Natalya questioned, ‘Why? It was the most amazing week’

Jess, who shares her son Presley with William, said dealing with the pandemic, its related stress, and constantly changing Spanish regulations was difficult.
Carol recalled the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically mentioning a time at the church. She was reminded that everyone was required to wear masks during the wedding, and that non-compliance would have resulted in the event being stopped.
Jess added to the day’s problems by sharing that the castle’s license had been revoked two days prior, and Will hadn’t informed her.
She explained that all the guests had already traveled to Spain for the wedding, but they might have needed to find a different location to hold it.
There were a lot of little things that went wrong beforehand, but honestly, it all worked out in the end and we had a fantastic day. I’m not complaining, just explaining what happened leading up to it.
Filming the TV show was demanding – they needed constant access, which makes sense since they were creating a program. However, when planning a wedding, we really wanted some privacy and didn’t want cameras constantly focused on us.
You prefer to handle things independently. Will isn’t comfortable with cameras, so looking back, involving them in the first place probably wasn’t a good idea.
Jess revealed she was actually pregnant on her wedding day, but hadn’t realized it yet, which she believes caused her hormones to fluctuate wildly.

During the podcast, Carol also shared some funny stories about her wedding, including how she unexpectedly showed up at Mark Sr’s bachelor party – she actually gatecrashed it!
Carol admitted she and her friends traveled by bus, while he went with his friends, all from the East End. She then unexpectedly showed up at his bachelor party, which she thought was a bit cheeky.
Natalya was upset, asking, “What? Why would you do that? It’s really frustrating!” Meanwhile, Jess simply asked, “Did you spend the whole night there?”
Carol explained that he seemed upset, telling her she couldn’t stay. She pointed out it was odd, though, because there were a lot of girls inside, and the boys were just being silly and dancing.
I told them there was no way I’d leave – I planned to stay put. And I did, for a while at least.
