Jeremy Renner on where he stands with his ex-wife a decade after humiliating divorce and bitter custody battle
A full ten years have passed since Jeremy Renner officially ended his contentious divorce and heated child custody dispute with former spouse Sonni Pacheco, in which she leveled accusations against him as an unsuitable parent with a history of substance abuse and claimed he had made threats against her life.
In older court documents, a 37-year-old realtor-sculptor artist claimed to have found traces of cocaine on a bathroom counter within easy reach of their six-year-old daughter Ava. The 54-year-old action star was accused of leaving the child unattended for extended periods while involved in threesomes or being intoxicated and unconscious.
Sonni asserted that Jeremy had previously brandished a firearm at his own mouth, made a suicide threat, and subsequently discharged the weapon into the ceiling, all while Ava was peacefully sleeping in her room.
Besides the accusations, Pacheco additionally claimed that Renner had bitten their child on the shoulder once. Furthermore, it was alleged that their nanny heard Renner express thoughts about taking his own life and hers, stating that it would be better for Ava to grow up without parents rather than having Sonni as a mother.
As a two-time Oscar nominee, I shared with The Guardian last Saturday that it’s quite uncomfortable for anyone, especially celebrities like myself, to be falsely accused of things we didn’t do. It’s not a pleasant feeling knowing everyone is aware of such accusations.
As a dedicated admirer, let me debunk this misconception: They’re not authentic, and they’re rampant – I call them sensationalized tales. They’re merely attention-grabbing headlines, designed to hook viewers, and in the process, they cause emotional distress and strip individuals of their humanity.
Jeremy explained that the spot on Ava’s shoulder was caused by a car seatbelt that had squeezed her, and regarding the claims of womanizing and drug use, he was living quite an unconventional lifestyle, similar to a carnival, during that period.
Indeed, indeed. The task of hosting had become too much for me. All the tidying up and maintaining it was exhausting, isn’t it? A hearty laugh! By 2019, I felt drained by all that. Then along came COVID-19, giving me a perfect excuse to step away from it all. I yearned for some tranquility. Renner shared this.
That Los Angeles location served as the backdrop for nurturing my child, teaching them to ride a bike and swim, where I pursued my music, held meetings, dated, socialized, and ultimately, it became my second home – embodying all aspects of one’s life.
If you happen to encounter someone for a drink, I prefer hosting the gathering at my place instead of going to a pub. My house functions more like an open community center for my loved ones. It turns out to be quite beneficial for them. Consequently, it’s not your typical home; homes don’t usually operate or feel like this. So, that setup is no longer the case.
When questioned about his fear of Sonni obtaining full custody of Ava, the author of “My Next Breach” chuckled and replied, “That’s just legal jargon. It’s lawyers debating. Sharing custody was straightforward.
Jeremy surprisingly shared that he has a great relationship with Ava’s mother, and they both play significant roles in each other’s lives. He finds it delightful.

‘It’s great. She’s got a new baby and she sends me beautiful pictures.’
Actor Renner, known for past relationships with Eiza González and Amber Monson, is currently unattached and quite dedicated to his 12-year-old daughter and the RennerVation Foundation, a charity he supports for fostering children.
Starting from January 21, the individual who won the SAG Award has been diligently engaged in executive production and resuming his character portrayal as Mike McLusky for the fourth season of the Paramount+ crime drama series, “Mayor of Kingstown”.
In addition to his role, Jeremy is featured in Rian Johnson’s sequel to Glass Onion titled Wake Up Dead Man, which will be available on Netflix starting December 12. This star-studded cast includes Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, and Andrew Scott.
