Jeremy Clarkson reveals he was ‘days away from death’ before undergoing urgent heart operation

As a dedicated follower of Jeremy Clarkson for many years, I have witnessed his adventurous and spirited journey through life, from the dizzying heights of Top Gear to the charming simplicity of Clarkson’s Farm. His latest health scare has hit close to home, not just because it is a fellow Brit we all admire, but also because it serves as an alarming reminder of our own mortality and the fragility of life.

Jeremy Clarkson shared that he was just a few days from experiencing death prior to his recent emergency heart surgery.

64-year-old ex-Top Gear host underwent a medical procedure due to an unexpected decline in his health. Remarkably, he commented: “Goodness me, that was a near miss.

After a swim in the Indian Ocean during his vacation on a small island, he began to experience discomfort, and eventually, he found it challenging to ascend a set of stairs.

Upon his return to Britain, Clarkson started experiencing a rapid worsening of symptoms. He felt sweaty, had discomfort in his chest, and sensations similar to pins and needles in his left arm.

The unexpected death of Alex Salmond due to a massive heart attack prompted a motoring journalist to visit their general practitioner.

In his column for The Sunday Times, Clarkson expressed feeling largely lifeless upon returning from a brief dip at the beach.

He spent the rest of his break on a tropical island eating cheese and drinking wine. 

It wasn’t until he got back to Britain, while he was placing 30 pigs onto what seemed like a “school bus for slaughterhouses,” that he felt numbness and tingling sensations in his left arm.

Subsequently, he traveled to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by ambulance. After undergoing an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and X-rays, the doctors determined that a heart attack was not the case.

On Wednesday, he visited the hospital operating room following additional examinations, and the physicians indicated that he might be just a few days from passing away.

After arriving, they inserted a stent into his arteries to keep them open, enhancing blood supply to his heart and alleviating his chest discomfort.

In simpler terms, a stent is like a flexible tube made of wire mesh that helps keep arteries open. When an artery becomes too narrow, a medical procedure called angioplasty might be used to widen it.

This process entails creating a minor cut on either the arm or leg of a patient. Subsequently, a wire with a connected, deflated balloon is passed through this opening and navigated up to the coronary arteries.

Speaking about the tiresome impacts of aging, Clarkson explained that one of the arteries supplying his heart with vital blood had become fully clogged, while another of the three appeared to be following a similar path.

The stent, designed to prevent further heart attacks by enhancing blood circulation to the heart, was inserted in approximately two hours, as he explained.

The motoring journalist said: ‘It wasn’t especially painful. Just odd,’ and added that he has been thinking: ‘Crikey, that was close.’

After the health issue, Clarkson appeared to be contemplating whether water has a taste and if it’s feasible to find celery more appealing, hinting at the possibility of reducing his meat consumption.

The first person said, “How did you injure your wrist, Jezza?” while the second one found the wrist injury concerning.
