Jeremy Clarkson Hilariously Mocks Will Smith’s Car Choices in Epic Top Gear Roast!
He’s known for rapping about his lavish lifestyle and racing around in fast cars in some of Hollywood’s biggest movies.
However, Will Smith’s car preferences faced criticism in a recently rediscovered clip from Top Gear that had Margot Robbie laughing out loud.
In 2015, Will Smith, who was 46 at the time, and his Australian co-star appeared on a segment called “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” on the show. They were there ahead of their film Focus. However, Jeremy Clarkson, who was also 54, gave Will quite a tough time during the segment, which took place in front of an enthusiastic studio audience.
A well-prepared Jeremy kicked off the grilling by asking: ‘What was your first car?’
‘The car that Will mentioned was a Chevy IROC-Z in apple red, which is similar to a Camaro. It seems like they don’t have those cars where you are.’
‘No we have…what’s the word? Er, taste,’ Jeremy lashed back.

From 1982 to 1992, the U.S.-manufactured Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z served as an economical muscle car model that hit the market annually.
As a car enthusiast at heart, I found myself pondering, “Perhaps your lack of knowledge about automobiles is showing here.” However, upon closer inspection of your lyrics, I’ve discovered a depth that suggests otherwise.
‘In a song called Getting Jiggy With It…’
Butting in, he playfully teased the Top Gear host, jokingly mocking a slight mispronunciation of his 1998 Grammy Award-winning track.
‘It goes, “850iS…”,’ Jeremy continued.
‘850iS if you need a lift…’ Will recalled.
‘”…Who’s the kid in the drop?”,’ Jeremy recited. ‘Now drop I presume means drop top.’
Will said: ‘Drop top, yes.’

But Jeremy revealed: ‘They never did a drop top 850. It’s a small problem.’
At this point, the large crowd of petrolheads watching the segment erupted into laughter.
Let me clarify, friend, it seems you’re under the impression that you’ve got all the answers. Well, in this vast land of ours called the United States, we have a unique practice – we modify our vehicles to suit our individual tastes and preferences.
Despite the audience’s approval of the grilling, the King Richard Oscar-winner was, in fact, right. The BMW 850i did have a number of recorded aftermarket conversions which involved adding a convertible top.
‘Can I just give you another one?’ Jeremy said.
At age 24, Margot was barely holding back her laughter while attending an A-list comedian’s roast, remarking: “This is simply wonderful.
Jeremy started singing, “‘I’m just sailing along…’ He was quoting from Will Smith’s popular song ‘Just Cruisin’, released in 1997, which peaked at number 23 on the UK singles chart.
‘Yes, yes, yes,’ Will recalled.

Jeremy praised, “You have a great rhythm going on, it’s smooth and fast, reminding me of racing nitro cars.” Will responded, “Thank you! I’m trying to keep it cool, but still have that fiery passion coming through, like a block of ice on fire.
The Top Gear presenter then asked: ‘Do you know what a maestro is?’
‘Oh, you’ve got one?’ Will said, gobsmacked.
Here it is,” Jeremy said, showing a photo of the iconic Austin Maestro, a British hatchback that became well-known in the early ’80s and had a significant impact on UK pop culture.
* The whole episode of the British television soap opera, Brookside, was centered around a vehicle, and the opening sequence of another popular British soap opera, Crossroads, showed an automobile made by MG called the Maestro during its titles in 1985.
‘Oh my God,’ a shocked Will said, with Margot almost crying with laughter in the seat next to him.
He added: ‘It is so awkward for me to hear you say my lyrics like that.’
Will and Margo were two of the most famous celebrities to ever race on the Top Gear track, with Will Smith achieving a time of 1 minute 47.2 seconds, placing him in a respectable position among his peers such as Warwick Davis and Benedict Cumberbatch.

But Margo had him beat, flying round the track in 1 minute 47.1 seconds much to Will’s shock.
During the 2022 Academy Awards, Will famously struck comedian Chris Rock on stage as a reaction to a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness, which she had due to alopecia.
The Aladdin actor continued shouting profanities at Chris as he returned to his seat and repeatedly said: ‘Keep my wife’s name out [of] your f***ing mouth.’
Will later accepted his Best Actor Oscar for his performance in King Richard and apologised to the Academy for his behaviour.
The recently rediscovered clip comes after Will went viral as he recreated his iconic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air dance with former co-star Tatyana Ali and a surprise appearance from singer Doechii.
The duo posted a fresh rendition of their goofy tune on social media on Friday, using the popular song “Anxiety” by Doechii, 26, as its soundtrack.
Although the song brought joy to numerous fans, some critics had concerns about Doechii’s role in the video and labeled her as a “pre-made” artist within the industry.
According to Urban Dictionary, an industry plant is defined as ‘an artist who has Major/Indie Label backing their movement but presents themselves as a “home grown start up” label to create a pseudo organic following.
In response to the accusations, Doechii explained to The Cut: ‘These days, when people aren’t aware of an artist’s past, they become wary.’
‘I’m pretty detached emotionally from it because I understand where it’s coming from. And to be honest, once you get any conspiracies around your career, that’s just confirmation that I’m going somewhere and I’m doing something right.’
In Feburary, Will and Jada put on a unified front with their first joint message since he came under fire for an ‘inappropriate’ display with a female singer at the Premio Lo Nuestro award show in Miami.
At the show last month, Will and the Spanish singer India Martínez put on a steamy display that seemingly culminated with a kiss, but some fans were irked due to his unusual marital relationship with Jada.
On Monday, she joined the 56-year-old A-list actor for a blended family photo as he marked National Napping Day.
It appeared that she had no lingering resentment towards her spouse, as they all stood together smiling, with their adult children Jaden, aged 26, and Willow, aged 24, in the photo.
In the family photo, it was Will’s eldest son, Trey Smith (aged 32), from his first marriage with Sheree Zampino, who participated alongside everyone else. Both Will and Trey were part of the snapshot taken together.
Although Will and Jada didn’t directly address his controversial kiss, the Matrix series star also got to poke fun at her husband in the cheeky snap.
Will, who wore a navy Adidas track suit with red stripes, was pictured snoozing on outdoors on a veranda while Jada, Sheree and the children all made joking gestures at him.

Jada, aged 53, with bright blonde hair and eyebrows, gestured towards her spouse and made a face by sticking out her tongue, suggesting a light-hearted jest at his expense.
‘Someone say it was national napping day?’ Will captioned the photo.
The recent show of familial bond was quite noticeable, given that the nature of Will and Jada’s relationship remains somewhat enigmatic.
Back in 2020, Jada openly confessed about having a long-term relationship with musician Alsina, which took place while she was separated from her husband, Will.
He later admitted to his own extramarital affairs, and in late 2023, Jada clarified that the two had been separated going all the way back to 2016, though she said they don’t have any plans to divorce.
