Jeremy Clarkson has given a glimpse into the events that unfolded as he found himself ‘just days away from death,’ undergoing an urgent heart surgery to prolong his life.

The 65-year-old television host underwent a surgery where two stents were implanted. Doctors advised him to modify his diet after they found that two critical arteries were clogged.

Jeremy quickly made his way to the hospital as he started experiencing signs such as sweating palms, discomfort in his chest, and a tingling sensation in his left arm.

After a sudden decline in his health, Jeremy was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for an operation.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, he reminisced about his vacation in the Seychelles just prior to the event, which seemed unusual later on.

He mentioned that he jumps from a boat during each vacation, as at his current age, it’s uncertain when his next dive, or any other event, might be for the first time.

However, as he was halfway through his final dive that ended up being more of a belly flop, he recognized that his mind was asking for more than his body could deliver.

He stated, “Upon reaching the beach, my lungs felt filled with water, and I came to understand that I could no longer continue.

Upon reaching his hometown of Chadlington, Oxfordshire, he started encountering unsettling health issues that necessitated an immediate trip to the hospital.

After the operation to clear his blocked arteries, the doctors advised him to eliminate high-fat and processed foods from his diet and engage in regular physical activity to shed some pounds.

Jeremy now plays pickleball to keep fit and has began following the ‘mono diet’.

This implies that he is able to consume meat, usually from livestock like lamb and cattle raised on his farm. However, he must eat it in its simplest form, as he can no longer use the elaborate sauces he was accustomed to using before.

In simpler terms, the doctor explained that foods with a single ingredient, such as steak or eggs, are acceptable. However, pre-made supermarket lasagnes should be avoided. Moreover, Jeremy has reduced his alcohol consumption but continues to drink occasionally.

Jeremy experimented with Ozempic, but it didn’t suit him well. He then moved on to Mounjaro, a medication that he shared has significantly reduced his urge for overeating.

Previously, during the course of this year, Jeremy provided an update about his health following a significant heart operation as he appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Later, he spoke about the changes in his daily lifestyle.

This morning, my phone displayed a message indicating that I’m walking significantly less this week compared to the previous one.

‘I thought, “yeah I would be as I am sitting here”. It also says you are eating far fewer sausages.

‘I just sit here and eat celery. I am feeling better on it. I do feel very well.’

In October of the previous year, Jeremy shared his experience following the lifesaving surgery.

Previously, the ex-host of Top Gear disclosed that he took ill following a swim in the Indian Ocean, and subsequently struggled with the task of ascending a staircase.

In his column for The Sunday Times, Jeremy expressed feeling largely lifeless upon returning from a brief dip at the beach.

He spent the rest of his break on a tropical island eating cheese and drinking wine. 

However, Jeremy went back to Britain, and his health started to rapidly worsen, as he experienced various concerning symptoms that had been mentioned before.

As he was putting 30 pigs onto what appeared to be a ‘slaughterhouse school bus’, he felt a sensation of pins and needles in his arm.

At that moment, he expressed to The Sun: “I am extremely thankful to those who sent encouraging messages, but rest assured, I am doing well.

For the next four years, I should avoid doing any manual labor or unloading the dishwasher. That’s what I understood from my doctor.” This version uses simpler language and makes it clear that the speaker is interpreting the doctor’s instructions rather than stating them as fact.

Subsequently, he visited the hospital, where they determined that it wasn’t a heart attack based on an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and X-rays.

A stent is like a flexible tube made from a wire mesh, used to keep arteries open. When an artery becomes too narrow, a medical procedure called angioplasty might be performed by a surgeon to widen it.

By doing this procedure, we insert a thin wire with a deflated balloon into a small cut made on a person’s arm or leg. This wire is then guided all the way to the coronary arteries.

This new version retains the original meaning but aims for a more natural and easy-to-understand language.

He described the exhausting consequences of aging as follows: ‘It appears that one of the arteries supplying blood to my heart is entirely blocked, while another of the three seems to be following a similar path.’

The stent, designed to save lives by preventing future heart attacks by enhancing blood flow to the heart, was inserted and placed within approximately two hours according to his statement.
