As a longtime Star Wars enthusiast who’s grown up with the galaxy far, far away, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia at the prospect of “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie. This series has been an absolute joy ride, and while it’s bittersweet to think that it might be reaching its end, I believe that this movie will provide a fitting conclusion for Din Djarin and Grogu’s epic journey.

The Mandalorian stands as the premier live-action television series within the Star Wars universe, and after three action-packed seasons, it appears that the story may reach its conclusion in a film titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” instead of proceeding into a fourth season.

It seems plausible that “The Mandalorian and Grogu” series might carry on beyond its movie, though it appears to be nearing a peak. As of now, we don’t have many details about the storyline, but the cast certainly looks intriguing. Of course, Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as the Mandalorian character. Additionally, we know that Sigourney Weaver is set for an exciting role. And it has been reported by Variety that Jeremy Allen White, the Emmy-winning actor from “The Bear,” will portray Rotta the Hutt, the offspring of the alien Jabba the Hutt from the original “Star Wars” films. Here’s a sketch of what White might look like in costume:

Well, you got me there! I was just pulling your leg about Harrison Ford only voicing Rotta the Hutt. Truth be told, I’m all for the buzzworthy actor enduring nine hours of makeup to transform into a gigantic blob – it’s the challenges that make the journey worthwhile!

Previously, Rotta the Hutt made an appearance in the 2008 animated movie “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, portraying a young Huttling named Rotta who got abducted. In this instance, David Acord lent his voice to the character.

The series “The Mandalorian” takes place years after the fall of the Empire, as depicted in “Return of the Jedi.” Since then, it’s safe to assume that Rotta has grown up. His specific role in “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is yet to be revealed, but we do know that his father, Jabba, is no longer alive. In another show, “The Book of Boba Fett,” Jabba’s cousins attempted to seize control of his criminal empire, but Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) ultimately emerged victorious. It’s possible that this storyline could be extended in “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” with Rotta the Hutt potentially becoming the new primary antagonist.

Perhaps he’s a peace-loving Hutt who has no interest in his father’s criminal empire. We’ll discover the truth when the series “The Mandalorian and Grogu” hits the big screen on May 22, 2026.
